The Peninsula Bangkok

My wife and I stayed at the Peninsula Bangkok in Jully 2009.

Property: The hotel is beautifuly maintained and decorated. This hotel is on the other side of the river but using the boats was easy. We did find that many of the cab divers didn't know the hotel by name and were not sure were it was. We kept the directions the hotel gives you and really didn't have any problems. First impression was that of a tropical oasis in the city. Beautiful!

Service: The staff were all very nice and more than willing to do anything you asked. We took a short trip to Cambodia and had them hold our bags while we were gone. They were happy to do so, and delivered to our room when we got back. The doormen were very nice and helpful. This place went out of the way to make sure our needs were met. Room cleaning was great.

Room: The rooms are fantastic. Very comfortable and spacious. Great bathroom and shower. The motorized blinds were a nice touch. We had no issues and nothing in the room to complain about.

We loved this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone.

The Peninsula was the perfect way to kick off the start of our honeymoon. From the moment we were picked up at the airport we were treated with impeccable service.

We stayed in a small suite and could not have been happier. The room did seem a bit dated although it still lived up to our expectations. The hotel also feels more business oriented and is pretty quiet and lacking any sort "scene". After being immersed in the chaos of Bangkok it was nice to have somewhere tranquil to relax and get away.

The hotel is not in the best location however it is easy to use the ferry to get to the other side of the river where there is more going on.

After reading so many endorsements of this hotel and staying at the Peninsula in NYC I was thoroughly looking forward to ending our trip in Thailand at this hotel. The service is absolutely amazing (concierge is very helpful), restaurants we similar to US five star hotels (very rare in Thailand). We did enjoy the river front location but sometimes found the ferries to be annoying. Both the Shangri La and the Mandarin are also on the river but the better side. The so called hi tech rooms seemed antiquated. Old crt tvs. I did appreciate the automatic blinds to keep the room from letting any light in. The hotel felt very business oriented and had I been traveling for work i would probably have a different review. We actually ended up getting stuck in Bangkok for a couple extra days and stayed at the Sheraton Grand in Sukhumvit. Half the price just as nice as well as attached to the sky train. Next time we may try the four seasons

We travel frequently, and have been in many luxury hotels. The Peninsula remains the best in the world. If you have a choice, stay there!

This hotel was a slice of paradise in Bangkok. I am a 'hard-to-please' traveler, and this property exceeded every expectation I had. The value was exceptional. I was upgraded to a suite upon arrival, and they were offering a 'stay 3 night, pay 2' promotion. The morning included buffet breakfast was amazing!! The service, grounds, staff, pool, transportation and everything were outstanding. I have stayed in many luxury hotels, and this is definitely one of the best! We had initially been at the Mandarin Oriental across the river and I can tell you that there is no comparison. The Pennisula far outweighs that property in every respect.

I've just been to the Peninsula for the second time and have sworn to go back. You simply cannot top this hotel. Nothing but perfection, be it in the impeccable service of the ultra-friendly hotel staff, the luxurious rooms with stunning views, the mouthwatering food (don't miss the Riverside Terrace buffet dinner!), the lush tropical gardens, the haven of tranquility found in the Spa... In short, the Peninsula is simply unbeatable.
