The room and decor were beautiful, the bedding wonderfully soft, the bathroom superb, stunning view from the window. I got a bit lost in the corridors, but that was probably due to jet lag! The staff were unfailingly kind and courteous and friendly--made me feel really welcome. The spa experience I had was also great. I'm already longing to come back!

Hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights on our way back from Vietnam earlier this month. We were after a final bit of luxury before heading back to Scotland and the Sukhothai did not disappoint. The high TA score is merited. The bedrooms are fantastic, very well kitted out and they are a lot more warm / cosy than the hotel photos suggest (i.e. they dont feel overly imposing due to the dark wood finishings.) The bed was very comfy and the rainfall shower was brilliant (the bath too was huge). Late night room service was efficient and the best we have every had (we arrived late and shot straight out to catch a show before returning back to the hotel at midnight). Breakfast was a fairly relaxed affair with lots to of nice food to choose from. The hotel staff are extremely polite / efficient and helpful. The pool area is stunning and the food from the pool restaurant was lovely (hubby had a lovely prawn / crab dish). Overall, we were sad that we only had a short time at the Sukhothai as we would have liked to have stayed longer. The hotel itself is mentioned in the book '1000' places to go before you die' and were glad we went.

We stayed at the Sukhothai for four days in August 2010 when coming back from a one week trip in Burma. Our stay was just perfect and this is definitively one of the best luxury hotels we have ever tried. If not the best. And definitively Bangkok's best.
The hotel itself is very elegant and we loved the Thai design. We booked a large suite as part of a package and had a driver waiting for us at the airport, which we would recommand if you arrive late in the evening. We tried the main restaurants of the hotel, as well as the spa. The swimming pool was very refreashing in the evenings before going out for dinner. Definitively required for a noisy and hot city like Bangkok....
The concierge and the rest of the staff was extremely nice and efficient, and made sure we had a perfect stay. We had carefully selected the Sukhothai after comparing it to other five stars hotels in Bangkok and did not regret our choice at all.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at The Sukhothai in Bangkok. It was the 3rd leg of a 4 leg holiday and our plan was to try and see as much of the city as we could during our 2 days. The hotel is beautiful and our room was very spacious with an amazing bathroom. All the staff were incredibly attentive and were very helpful in offering advice on where to go and what to do. We used taxis for all our city journeys and in hindsight we maybe should have attempted to use the Skytrain. Road traffic in Bangkok is horrific and it can take an age to go very little distance. That said, I don't think there is a Skytrain stop very close to the hotel. Given the hotel's location, it does mean that once you are in the hotel you feel very relaxed and forget about the hustle and bustle outside.
We had room service and also ate in the hotel's Thai restaurant during our stay. All the food we had (including at breakfast) was first rate.
We would definitely go back to The Sukhothai and recommend it to others.

Stayed in an Executive deluxe room.
As has been said previously the staff here are amazing. I can't add much more!

The room was very nice. Plenty of space to spread out and relax. This is a silly thing but I especially like the safe which was large enough to take my laptop an slr camera as well as host of other stuff. The shower was a little too dark for my liking and had a fixed head shower. Newer hotels give you the rainfall shower heads and a detachable shower head which is much nicer, this seemed a little dated.

The gym was very well equiped and the pool area was so nice. Like others have said, you forget you are in the middle of Bangkok.

Had dinner at the Italian restaurant one evening and it was so very good. In fact, enjoyed that more than Vertigo next door. Breakfast was very good with good quality food and plenty of choice.

I enjoyed my stay here, but not sure I would pick it for a holiday as it's away from the tourist spots, having stayed by the river on previous stays I preferred that location. But had it been for business then this would be a better choice, so my recommendation would be for business rather than leisure.

It may be one of the best in Bangkok. The Sukhotai had been ranked among the best hotels in the world. I understand why.
Not many comments are necessary to describe this perfect place in Bangkok: quiet in a noisy city, elegant and delicate. Wonderful and friendly staffs with sense of details.
Everybody is ready to make you appreciate your stay and solve your problems if any.

Some examples of great details: amenities in room (Acqua di Parma products in bathroom), different homemade chocolate every day, as well as delicious fresh fruits in room, ...

Finally, the ration quality/pricec is really very good.
Important information: you don't feel at all in one of those luxury international hotels with 400 rooms and 40 floors. The Sukhothai is made of small buildings that preserves intimacy and tranquillity and you feel in a large garden in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: Have been upgraded to Garden suites: wonderful!
