One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Location was great: away from the busy street which even allowed us to sleep with the window open and still close to public transport: Lumpini metro station only one block away and Saladeng Skytrain station only 15 minutes walk. The service was exceptional!

Stunning hotel, the views and scenery. It was just an amazing stay in this hotel. Full of experiences when i was here, peaceful and you can have a relaxation as well. Nice amenities and accommodations. The rooms are very clean and spacey. All you you need is there. Nothing i can say bad but it was just an adorable hotel ever. Unforgettable experienced and i really want to have a vacation again i the same hotel.

This hotel has so much style - you don't even check in at the desk, it's all completed in your room as you wait for your luggage to arrive. Quality rooms, furnishings, products and top quality staff. In room coffee machine plus milk etc ensures you can make a drink whenever you like - so no need for room service. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Pool facilities top notch - changing rooms provide everything from towels to hairdryer and all hair products, gels, razors, combs.
Beautiful low level building, designed to make you feel it is floating over water.

A relaxed top-spec but low-rise hotel right in the middle of the business quarter is surprising for whoever knows a little about Bangkok. We stayed here because it was recommended to us by a travel agent (which we usually don't bother asking for advise) but it was such a great choice in this case!!! Despite the average height of 35-40 floors of the other upmarket hotels in the Bangkok city center, this hotel is only 5 stories high. Because it uses more land for the rooms, suites, pool, spa, restaurant(s) bar, garden tennis court, you would expect them to be charging at least 3 more times than their surrounding neighbours.
Add the interior design of traditional influence reinterpreted in a contemporary manner, impeccable service, welcoming staff, spacious and naturally ventilated gardens, and you will see why this is nothing but a hidden gem in the middle of a hectic city.
My wife and I had a superb short stay in Jan 2012 in The Sukhothai Hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Executive suites are excellent

The Sukhothai is a lovely, peaceful and luxurious hotel. I stayed here with my family (including two kids aged 3,5) for four nights just before Christmas and we really enjoyed it.

We used the hotel airport transfer service which was more expensive than other options but a nice treat. Even though we arrived (off a long flight) with two little kids after midnight check-in probably took longer than it needed to (and wasn't done in the rooms).

We (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed in a deluxe suite which we got a great rate on by paying well in advance. My mother and mother-in-law stayed in executive deluxe rooms. All three were huge and very luxurious. The hotel happily put two rollaway beds in the suite and they fit easily.

I disagree with other reviewers who say that the rooms are dated or need a refurb - while not hip, I think the style is classic Thai and the colours and use of silks and Thai artworks is beautiful but that's just my view of course! The bathrooms are enormous and make you feel a bit like a movie star and the furniture and carpets are spotless.

For some reason we didn't have complimentary mini bar in our rooms but we did make use of the coffee machine.

Service in the hotel is generally excellent although the poolside service was a bit variable.

As we found at the Peninsula and the Shangri La on this trip, the Sukhothai pool was cold. I know it is 'winter' in Bangkok but with just a touch of heating the pool would be a lot more enjoyable.

As to location, I don't think there is anything wrong with the location of this hotel per se. It is close to the centre of the action and taxis are easy. It's also not far to the metro. For me though, I prefer being on the river so that was a bit of a downside.

Overall if you could put this hotel on the river then it would be my number one in Bangkok for sure. Despite the lack of river though, I will be back!

It was our second time in the Sukothai Bangkok and it was again such a great experience, the people are so nice and friendly, you really feel it's a small hotel and everyone knows you... The style of the hotel is very sophisticated rooms are very big and bathrooms enormous. Food is among the best in Thailand and very good service. I would have liked to have stayed here for at least a week!!! Spa also beautiful and last minute bookings no problem. Hopefully I can stay there again soon!!
