This hotel was obviously once an amazing place but I felt that the rooms were getting tired - they were still clean and well appointed, but they just felt a bit tired. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the location is good.

Unfortunately it was a one night work trip so I didn't get to test all the facilities - but they looked pretty good.

We wanted a lazy Saturday so went to The Sukhothai for breakfast. I am a huge fan of the Sunday Brunch but I can't go there every month, not good for my waistline or my wallet but it is so worth it as a treat. The same can be said for breakfast. The Sukhothai are all about quality over quantity and variety. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of variety in their buffet offerings but they don't try to be all things to all men, rather ensuring that the variety they do provide is of the highest quality.

The quality of the food is complimented by fantastic service. We were never rushed, the staff offered to get some things for us so we wouldn't have to get it ourselves (remember this is a buffet) and treated us like long lost guests. Can't fault them on atmosphere, quality of food and service.

My friend and I stayed here while we were in Bangkok, and I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was. The property is absolutely beautiful, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the little extra touches like chocolates and fresh fruit in the room made us feel so welcome. Everything here is first class, from the fine china in the dining rooms to the lovely silk draperies in the rooms. This is probably the only hotel I've ever stayed in that didn't have one negative aspect about it. I would highly recommend it!

We stayed here twice during our 3 week trip through Thailand and Cambodia. For the first stay we even received a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful deluxe terrace suite facing the big pool. We arrived very early in the morning but checking in was immidiately possible. Though we have to say that the welcome at the reception was a bit cold and reserved since we were return guests (stayed here for seven days in 2013). Furthermore nobody escorted us to our room (even the doorman was very surprised).
Breakfast at the Colonnade restaurant offers a wide selection. We simply love the calm pool area where you can relax and forget that you are in a hectic city like Bangkok. Also the pool staff is very attentive and friendly. The Scala restaurant is also recommandable. If you find it too expensive at least order the delicious pizzas via room service.
Like others already mentioned the location might disappoint some people (sky train is a 15min walk away). We didnt care as getting a taxi is always easy. The Hotel is directly neighbouring the Banyan Tree with its Vertigo Moon Bar.
So apart from the first check in we had another fantastic stay at The Sukhothai.

I am a regular guest of the Sukhotime for many years and I feel always happy on arrival and sad on departute. The hotel is an oase in the center of the city. Rooms are really comfortable for a reasonable price. Staff is at all places kind and helpfull. I wouls say one of my favorate Zen style hotel in the world. Restaurants are very good quality special Celadon is a nice place to eat. Surrounded by water and lotus flowers you feel well.

We stayed here in October and although it was raining on our first arrival it did not diminish the beauty of this hotel and gardens. The welcome was warm and the staff were lovely and attentive. Our room was impeccably clean as well as spacious and light with a good view out over the pool. We had a tasty lunch outdoors at the club bar and dinner in the hotels restaurant. The dinner we had at the restaurant was exceptional, I'd return to this hotel in a heartbeat if only to eat there again. The swimming pool was huge and clean, a great atmosphere to swim or relax during the afternoon with waiters ready to bring water and towels. We would definitely stay here when we return to Bangkok.
