“Never want to leave”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

Whenever in Bangkok, I continue to go back to the Sukhothai. Everytime, I like it more. This time, I didn't want to leave. Everything met my expectations. The property is beautiful, rooms are tastefully designed and comfortable, service is top notch, pool is inviting, food is wonderful. And I got it all at an amazing value.

I did have one complain on this visit. There was a musty smell coming from the aircon unit throughout my stay. I did report it a couple of times, but it was not fixed.

Nevertheless, I will continue to go back. I truly love this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the gardens.

Spending more than 200 nights per year in a hotel room, checking into the Sukhothai Hotel in Bangkok was a special treat. The Sukhothai is a "resort property" in the middle of exciting and ever buzzing Bangkok. The clientele is clearly knowledgeable and well-honed travelers who know that they looking for a comfortable place to lay their head and kick up their feet after a long and often hot day. The Sukhothai has thought of every detail to make your stay relaxing. The hotel is beautiful, modern Thai style, but is not hustling and bustling like most hotels, even the Four Seasons. From the Front Desk, Bell Staff, Bar Staff to the Room Service staff, the service is outstanding, and always with a "smile". All of the food at the hotel is top drawer, but I found that the breakfast buffet was outstanding, and I am not typically a breakfast eater.

The Sukhothai is perfectly located in central Bangkok on Sathorn Road. While Sathorn can be busy, it is nothing like the continually congested Suhkumvit Road area. Easy access to highway to and from the airport.

I am a regular runner, and the very close proximity to Lumphini Park makes it great for morning runs in the park on the 2.5km loop around lakes and well kept grounds. If you are runner, this is a must do running route when traveling. Go early in the morning, as it gets hot by 8:00am.

Enjoy the Spa, it is fantastic and memorable.

One of favorite hotels in the world.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!

We spent several days there this summer in order to visit Bangkok on our way to Koh Samui.

The hotel is very beautiful and has a proper resort feel to the property despite the hustle bustle of the city outside. The inner courtyard and mini-lake are absolutely precious, the breakfasts are amazing combinations of western and eastern type meals and very elegantly presented which I loved. There are two restaurants on the property, I found the thai one to be absolutely excellent. We did dine at the Italian one as well but I'm overall less interested in Western cooking when in Asia so it was just less memorable. The hotel has a very pleasant outdoor pool that the Italian restaurant looks out to, very chill and romantic in evenings.
I did not get to use the spa but heard great things about the massages.

We had dinner at Nahm at the Metropolitan which was walking distance so that was great.

In terms of location I'm a bit confused but there is an area by the river with a number of high end hotels. The city is very sprawled out, one must take taxis (which seem safe and are very cheap) but the traffic is quiiiiiite slow.

If I had to give a couple of less impressive comments I would probably point to the fact that the indoor lake probably makes the humidity & heat that much worse and it does seep into the hallways and even rooms, a sort of humid stagnant smell and feel.

The guided private tour company that the hotel concierge recommended did the job of getting us to see all the temples, the flower market and do a boat tour of the canals which was nice but it was hardly the luxury service that one would imagine would come with the price. A big minivan instead of private car and boat ride on very precarious boat are noted examples and while the guide was very sweet, I'm not sure I understood much of her English beyond hello and goodbye so we missed out on some of the story line.

We had dinner at the restaurant Sky Bar on the rooftop of a hotel and the ambience was a bit too touristy with a lot of selfie mania happening but the views were incredibly stunning.

Room Tip: I might stay away from ground floor on the lake due to the humidity and perhaps noise from inner cou...

Rooms are very comfortable and the bed is to die for! I would have no hesitation in returning…its up there with the best of them a true 5 star Hotel.

I had the opportunity to stay at the sukhothai during my stay at bangkok. They definitely set the tone right when we were promptly great as soon as we arrived at the hotel and led straight to our room where we checked in. The room was gorgeous and the bathroom was large and accommodating. Once we settled in we went down to the concierge to look for places to eat and general advice on things to do. They recommended an amazing restaurant with some of the best sea food i've had.
The rest of the trip seemed to follow suit. Great staff, very receptive and accommodating. They set up a day trip out to the floating market and tiger temple for us.

I would like to also recognize one of the managers, Tippie. she was an amazing host and helped us with everything!

I have stayed at heaps of five star hotels but this one is truly special...
Service is impeccable and staff can't do enough to help.
We had a romantic 5 day honeymoon there and stayed on the suk jai package which was fantastic..
The bose sound system was an added treat to the room as was your personal coffee machine.
Pool is beautifully maintained at a perfect temperature with attendants waiting on your every whim.
The food choices are first class and you haven't tasted Thai food unless you eat at celadon. The Sunday brunch is worthwhile (a little pricey at aud100 pp) and relaxing..
It's the best hotel overall that we have stayed in and highly recommend it to all reviewers wanting that something special

The hotel and facilities are a lovely retreat and a very relaxing oasis in the chaos of Bangkok. The service was excellent as I would expect from any five star Asian hotel. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and the window views from the all day dining restaurant onto the Thai/zen water garden really allow one too enjoy an air of tranquillity and peace. On the negative side, the room although comfortable, was dark and drab. And there was a feeling that something was missing about the place. It was my first stay after having heard rave reviews from friends so perhaps my expectations were a little high.
