Reviewed 20 January 2010

This review is long overdue as we stayed there 1 year ago. It was a treat for my partner's birthday. I took the Executive package which includes a round trip airport transfer in a limo, a Deluxe suite, breakfast etc and it was definitely worth every € I spent !!!!

The transfer from BKK aiprort to the hotel was in a Mercedes with a very friendly chauffeur in a white uniform, almost looking like a General ....

Upon arriving at the hotel, the General was met by his troops who opened the doors of the Mercedes, took our luggage out of the trunk while a very nice girl took us directly to our room for the check in. It was like a dream.

The room was huge and definitely luxurious and I wish I could have the same bathroom at home.

Breakfast was delicious with an amazing choice of hot and cold sweet and salted stuff !!!

The restaurant by the pool is good too and not overpiced.

The staff are all very friendly, helpful and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them.

On the first night we had dinner at the Celadon, and it was a great experience. Very good food and excellent service. Be careful though, the portions are huge !!!! We each took a starter and main course and it was too much. We should have taken a starter for 2. Even though we're french we tried a Thai red wine which proved to be very good. The bill was reasonable we would have paid much more than twice the price in Paris !!!

Should we go back to Bangkok we would definitely stay here again.

Sukhothai is really a great property, not only is it located near silom (skytrain a few minutes away) but the Hotel is surrounded by a garden witch gives you a very quiet feeling. The room are very tasteful and the bathroom ( Executive suite) are huge. The pool is quiet big and the restaurant are delicious .THe new Zuk bar is cool and trendy and a great spot for an informal drink . Also the staff is very helpful and solves most of the issues quickly . I kep going there since years and really never had a Problem. Can only recommend the hotel.

Wonderful hotel with a wonderful staff ready to meet your every need!
Stayed at the Deluxe Suite and very pleased with the room.

Hotel is wonderful with it´s old charm and calm atmosphere and the staff remembers you from the moment you are greeted at the door.

Loved the pool instead of the free form pools you see everywhere.

Only negative to say is that Internet isn´t free. Think it was about 700 TBH for one hour. Think that internet could be a service instead of a way to make money for the hotel...

We stayed here for a long weekend and found the Hotel to be wonderful. Very peaceful setting you can easily forget (if you want to) that you are only metres away from bustling Bangkok.
The service was absolutely flawless, the best I have experienced. The rooms are very nice, gorgeous pool. Great restaurant.
I will most definitely stay here again next time I am in BKK.

Absolutely amazing 5 star hotel in the heart of the CBD, 10 minute walk from the Lumphini Night Market and MRT station. Excellent service, breakfast buffet with a large choice of foods.

In response to a previous review the pool is NOT small! It's a proper 25 metre pool which is fantastic for those who enjoy swimming rather than those stupid free form pools that many hotels have. Plenty of sun loungers and towels. Excellent and friendly pool side attendants.

I have also stayed at the Banyan Tree next door, and the Sukhothai is definately far superior. I would most definately stay here again.

Compared to all of the large high-rise hotels in Bangkok, The Sukhothai is a calm oasis in a busy part of the city. The rooms are lovely with teak wood and silk furnishings. I ate in all of the restaurants and the quality was excellent across the board. Service is top nitch. It's a lovely hotel to come back to after a day out in busy Bangkok. Highly recommended.
