The staff was very friendly, helpful and eager to please. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very well maintained and clean. Lifts were very quick and the discounts offered were excellent. Tour organised was thoroughly enjoyed.

I have been travelling around Asia for around 8 weeks and was joined by my husband for a couple of weeks. On the last night of his stay we booked in here where I had dined before whne working in Bangkok. It is wonderful. The service is attentive, the room was amazing, with a lovely big bed and dinner on the 61st floor at Vertigo was a hightlight - that restaurant will easily go into my top 3 of all time - the 6 course tasting menu with wine is to die for. Whilst seemingly expensive, you wouldn't get that in the west and you just can't put a price on the view.

The buffet breakfast is extensive and eggs are cooked on the spot for freshness.

I would not hesitate to recommend both the hotel and the roof top restaurant.

Just came back from a fab trip to Thailand including a 4 night stay at the Banyan tree Bangkok. It was such a lovely hotel, situated in the heart of down town bangkok. About a 20 min walk from all the major shopping centres. Lots of action in the area even though mainly a business district. Full of street vendors, markets, just great vibe. The hotel itself was just wonderful. We ate at 2 of their restaurants: Saffron and the Japanese restaurant. Both were lovely although 5 stars definately to Saffron where everything from starter through to dessert was delicious. At Japanese restaurant, have the green tea ice cream, was just heavenly. The staff at the hotel were so polite and helpful, our room was extremely comfortable with a fantastic view of the city. Modern decor with a Thai touch! Took the city retreat package which was amazing value for money, included 2 set dinners, spa treatment each, laundry daily, gift daily, use of club lounge, mini massage. Would definately stay there again!!! Can't wait to try other Banyan tree resorts:-)

Stayed there at 2 occasions in June and September 2011, in club rooms (once in junior suite, once in normal room). Very comfortable and modern rooms with all amenities needed (was there on business).
Great snacks and good drink choice at club floor (much better than Dusit Thani for example).
Location not ideal when climate gets too warm as it is a good 15 min walk to nearest skytrain and is situated on a road with pretty bad traffic during peak hours (like many Bangkok major roads though...).

If you do nothing else before you die, you should go to the Moon Bar at the top of the Banyan Tree hotel. The drinks are not cheap (by Thail standards - by Australian standards, they are), and some people moan about the cost of the food (really? $30 for a plate of food??) but where else can you sit 61 storeys above the pavement, with only a 3ft high glass barrier between you and eternity, and sip on a cocktail for less than $15? It is wonderful.
Our room was on the Premier Level - floor 48 - and had a bathroom, bedroom and sitting room - all for about $155 a night. This included daily fruit, internet, breakfast and a drink up on the roof. Breakfast was a smorgasbord of fruits, salads, cereals, breads and Asian cuisine. Anyone not happy with that will never be happy.
The service was excellent. The spa was top class. My daughter and I both had Swedish massages and they were faultless.
Not too far away is Silom Road, for shopping, and Patpong, if you are into that sort of thing (we aren't, but it's quite entertaining). Nearby there is both the underground rail (Lumphini station) and the Sky train (Sala Daeng).

Room Tip: Blue Elephant Cooking school is just down the road - worthwhile and fun.

Very good package and great value for money. We stayed 3nights from Wednesday to Saturday. The room was excellent and the service was great. The only problem we encountered was the air conditioning failed on the 2nd night and the room became warm. We reported it the next morning and subsequently a total of 6+ times and was always told the engineers would be looking at it. Finally we were told the engineers could not fix it and only when we pushed did we get a room change, it then took over an hour for concierge to send somebody to help move the luggage and show us the new room. We did not let it bother us overly and apart from that the hotel and package was brilliant.

We had an amazing welcome from Max when we arrived and it only continued to get better from there. Due to its location you'll likely have to use a taxi to get around though the hotel does offer complimentary shuttles to the train station and the weekend market. However taxis are so cheap that it doesn't really matter. The hotel gym is one of the best I've been to ... rooftop bar and restaurant is the best in Bangkok... and the service again was brilliant.
