“Fabulous Bangkok”
Reviewed 27 August 2012

first 3 nights of our honeymoon in the madness that is bangkok from 5th Aug 12.

What can you say about the Banyan Tree apart from incredible!! We were lucky enough to have a lovely suite and use of the executive floor which certainly added to the stay, breakfast there in the morning, you could have a light lunch, free drinks pretty much all day, cocktails and canapes in the evening and the bonus was we weren't expecting this.

Room was lovely for a city hotel and the moon bar and vertigo restaurant were sensational. I know the restaurant is pricey for bangkok but why shouldn't they charge the same as any other capital city with views, service and food that good.

I have seen a few comments that the location is a bit out of the way and that is the case if you want to be in the thick of things but a 10 minute taxi ride for 100baht (£2) gets you to central pier and the river can then take you wherever you want. Or you could be brave and get a lunatic tuk tuk driver to take you, cost a little more but well worth the experience if you have the nerve!!

Overall, I think this is a fabulous hotel if you want a treat, it was our honeymoon after all!! The Spa is also first class for pampering.

I agree that you can get very good hotels elsewhere in Bangkok for less but if you want something special I would thoroughly recommend the Banyan Tree, we will certainly be back.

Room Tip: go for a club room to benefit from the executive lounge, also ask for a higher floor for great views

Amazing 360 degree full view of Bangkok at the roof top Vertigo & Moon Bar. Must try!!!
Nice room at the Banyan Tree Club floor... The only weakness is the small swimming pool & the location (about 10 min. taxi to CBD)

Well located. Spatious rooms, friendly service. Locationwise ecellent rooftop bar & restaurant. Food good, but not really outstanding. Nice breakfast buffet, could use a wider variety of fruit juices.

We had stayed at the hotel many times before, but this was a first staying with our 3 year old toddler. Not ideal for a family - the location leaves you a little isolated with heavy reliance on taxis since the hotel is a good walk from the skytrain. The big selling point here is the spa which is superb and the boutique style of the hotel. We had a one bed suite which came with access to the club lounge, served canapés and drinks all day. Breakfast buffet is decent but the dinner buffet is a but disappointing. Will be staying at the millenium Hilton on the river on our next stay so it should be an interesting comparison

Wifi was not working and none returned my call despite promising me they would check on it and get back to me. Hotel is obviously old and in need of maintenance. Lights are too dim in the room, air-con intermittent. Worst was there was an opened water bottle left in the room and placed with the complimentary bottles of water. Adaptor was not working and ended up using my own. View was good and bed was comfortable, spa is also great, but those are the only saving graces. Breakfast was terrible, I waited half an hour for my tea to be served and I had to get it myself. All in all, very disappointing for a Banyan Tree hotel.

Had a fantastic two nights at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok. Made to feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely hotel and facilities. I would definitely stay there again next time I visit Bangkok. Look out for Max at customer information he rocks!

Lovely hotel in terms of quality of rooms, service and cleanliness. All the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. The Moon Bar, on the roof, is good but can get very busy. Vertigo restuarant, also on the open roof, was excellent quality and whilst expensive for Thailand is a bargain European terms. The breakfast offerings are the best I've encountered anywhere.

The only slight downside is its location. Whilst it's not bad if you factor in the often appalling traffic in bangkok then it can be a bit of a pain getting to places.
