“Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

Our third visit to Bangkok and our fist stay in the Sheraton Grand. The service was first class and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

We booked this hotel through Trailfinders and got a free upgrade to a Grande Deluxe Room with 24 hour butler service and free wi-fi.

I would rate this hotel as first class for the staff, accommodation and location. Only two minutes from the sky train and close to many restaurants and street markets.

The inclusive breakfast was first class with so much choice it was hard to decide what to have. We did not eat diner in the restaurant as it was pretty expensive, but I have no doubt that the food would match the quality of the breakfast!

We will not be looking for another hotel for our next trip to Bangkok. We will be staying in the Sheraton Grande!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a Grande Deluxe Room. It's worth the extra cost and you get free wi-fi and 24 hour b...

When I come back to Bangkok, I won’t look for another hotel. I had a great experience here at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. The staff was really friendly and did everything possible to help me out. The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit was very nice and I think it has my most favourite pool in the world. The dishes at the hotel restaurant are a bit expensive, but tasted absolutely wonderful.

Above average compared to other Luxury Collection properties, the staffs service was excellence, greeting were made at all time and could really felt the warm-hearted service and butler service was offered as well. Breakfast was great, gym and pool was excellence.

Stayed in the Grande Suites, room was spacious and benefits were excellence. There were complementary cocktail hours and laundry service.

The location is one of the best with a sky walk link the hotel with BTS sky train.

I probably should give this hotel a four star instead of five but because of the level of service (and their fantastic Sunday Brunch), it overcomes the missing star! The reason I would give it a four star is because Luxury Collection is supposed to be just that...luxury. But, the rooms are extremely outdated. The doors are old and seem flimsy, the bathrooms look like something out of the 80's. The beds are very comfortable but the sheets felt damp the whole time.

However, the staff are incredible. The common areas are well kept and pretty timeless. This is my second stay at this hotel and I come back here because of the service level and because the location is unbeatable. It's right on the main BTS line. I even called their concierge before our stay (we were staying at another hotel in BKK before we checked in) and they still assisted me with questions about Bangkok and bookings. The concierge staff always go out of their way. Hands down the best concierge staff at ANY hotel I've ever stayed at in the world.

The Sunday Brunch is DIVINE!!!! This is enough of a reason to stay here. They have just about everything you could imagine and it all tastes so fresh. And all you can eat mango sticky rice, how could you ask for anything more??? There are a number of great spas in the area too.

The bar there, Barsu, however seems to attract some less than savory types of individuals. They should probably examine this issue. And they definitely should renovate the rooms. However, everything else is great enough!

I travel to Bangkok a lot these days as I live in a neighboring country. The location of this hotel is great - right next to the SkyTrain, so you cannot beat that. There is actually a skywalk coming out of the hotel to the train! The rooms are a bit dated, but nice. I guess I am accustomed to most Bangkok hotels going for the ultra-modern designs, so seeing a more Tuscany-inspired themes was new. The breakfast was plentiful, but the acoustics in the main dining area is way too good - if you are trying to wake up slowly, have you breakfast at the poolside restaurant instead - a beautifully landscaped place with a better service as fewer guests eat there. The concierge was good and the service was very nice. Would stay again if the price was right.

Conveniently located right on Sukhumvit and connected to the BTS Asok train station, this hotel is a well-run, dependable hotel. The rooms are a good size and the beds comfortable. The pool area is leafy and relaxing. The staff are great and nothing is too much trouble.

There might be newer places in this area, but I always find this hotel reliably good and welcoming to return to.

I was confused in which hotel to stay, and what had finally pulled me towards Sheraton was "the most exotic pool among city hotels in Asia". Tend to agree. Great large river-like open air pool surrounded by exotic plants so that you hardly can see the sky and for sure do not see the scy scrappers surronding Sheraton - what a fantastic solution! I stayed there at the very end of my business trip to SEA and was very exhausted, so the pool was the main thing I was so happy about.
About the rooms. Spacious, with a small room for your clothes and luggag and a great bathroom including both bathtub and tropical shower. I do not like carpets in hot countries as this does not let your bare feet fully relax and forces you to wear slippers. Though fine for the rest, if you like business style of the rooms. I saw the pictures of the rooms on the hotel's web site, so it was an intended sacrifice towards the pool :)
Service was fine, nice friendly staff, though nothing extra.
I tried thai massage in their spa - very good. Spacious rooms, very comfortable massage beds, good quality of massage itself, though 10 times more expensive compared with the salons in the city. But I simply was too tired to go anywhere out of the hotel, so believe that was a good value for money.
Breakfast - ok, standard for this level of hotels. Nice that you have a choice to have your breakfast in the pool area which other city hotels can never offer.
Location - ok, but no chance to get anywhere unless you take a taxi. And mind rush hours - the avenue is completely blocked.
Highly recommend if you plan to spend some time in the hotel, especially if you simply need to relax, and don't mind the price. Marriott Suits seemd to have similar facilities but the price offered was significantly higher. As for the value for money, Sheraton is the winner here. If you need just a place to spend a night, then better choose a cheaper option.
