Wife and I stayed here between 27-30 April. Simply excellent. We have been staying here at least once a year for the past 10+ years. Competition is fierce in the hotel industry in Bangkok, but SGS continues to evolve and improve after the recent renovation. Some highlights for my readers.
1. Super convenient location. A separate walkway to BTS and Terminal 21. Excellent for general shopping. You could also take the MRT to many of the landmarks such as Chatuchak markets, Central Plaza Grand Rama 9, Tesco Lotus, Big C Supercentre, Esplanade, Thailand Cultural Centre, Chinatown, etc...
2. Very professional and attentive staff. Very busy but still able to keep composure, and always wearing a smile (that’s the Thailand I know).
3. Food and service qualities were very good as usual. We didn’t have breakfast with our package this time, but the fruit and veggies are usually very good. For this time, we had dinner at the hotel’s Italian restaurant and it was just marvelous (see separate review on Rossini’s).
4. The Spa at SGS has been running a few specials, but quality never compromised. Booking this time is much more efficient, and Ms Pavalee has been very helpful in making the arrangements.
Over all, a lovely and relaxing stay. Final note – the unobstructed view facing south over the lake was great. On a sunny day, I could see as far as the Bhumibol 1 Bridge!
