“Great Hotel”
Reviewed 9 November 2006

I agree with the recent reviews - this was our first time in South East Asia and we were hugely impressed with the level of service and facilities in the Landmark, despite it not being one of the most expensive hotels (but it was still very luxurious). We upgrated to club floor mainly to reduce the noise level from the street below, and feel it was well worth the extra (though no need to upgrade to a larger room). The free drinks (early evening), delicious evening snacks, breakfast and attentive service in the club lounge made the extra payment well worthwhile.
The location was great although it was difficult to find a bar nearby where I (female, 40's) felt I would fit in! - we tended to sit outside at Gullivers across the road, or in the outside restaurant Zanzibar further down the road, and always ended up in the Huntsman pub in the Landmark where the cover band was excellent.
This hotel gives you a much better feel for Bangkok life than staying in the plusher hotels overlooking the river, but makes life easy by being so close to the skytrain station Nana.

  • Liked — Service, facilities, room, location
  • Disliked — Expensive drinks in bar

This was my second stay in the last three years at the Landmark and just like the first the hotel meet and actually exceeded many of my expectations.

After three days in Luala Lumpar and then a wonderful ten days in Phuket my wife and I booked one night in the Landmark before our return to the UK. We simply could not come to Thailand again without a visit (albeit a very short one) to this wondeful vibrant city.

The Landmark is a briliant hotel and makes any stay in Bangkok a memorable one. Situated on the busy Sukhumvit Road it is ideally located for exploring this citys many attractions and secrets. A big plus for us is its proximity to a 'skytrain' station, literally a two minute walk from the hotel entrance is the station 'nana'. The 'skytrain' is a great, cheap, clean and comfortable way of getting around Bangkok.

We arrived mid-afternoon, check-in was quick and hassle free and we were soon in our room. The room was clean, comfortable and of a good size boasting the usual amenities, satellite TV, mini bar, personal safe, etc. As with all hotels, don't pay mini-bar prices, 7-11 shops are all over the city so if you want a drink in your room stock up at these. Over the road from the Landmark is the Amari hotel and opposite this is a supermarket with a great range of drinks at very cheap prices!

The Landmark has a roof top pool, a common feature of most Asian city hotels. Its great for a quick dip in after a long day shopping or sightseeing, I wouldn't really recommend spending the day here as your missing out on all the 'action' in the streets below!

Apart from its ideal location, wonderful staff and excellent rooms, for me the Landmark has one other huge 'plus' point that will see me return again, its food! The hotel offers a number of restaurants, offering the best that eastern and western cuisine has to offer.

Personal favourite for me is the Greenhouse restaurant, located on the ground floor, it provides two menus, one with eastern food, the other western, their is a huge variety to chose from each menu and you are spoilt for choice about what to try! For me a stay at the Landmark would not be complete without a meal here.

After a meal at the Greenhouse my wife and I would then head to the 'Huntsman' a 'traditional' English pub located below the hotel. Its a great place for people watching, taking it easy or listening to the superb live band that performs most evenings.

If your after a hotel with superb facilities, great food and staff, a brilliant location and clean, comfortable rooms then I would highly recomment the Landmark. It is not laden with opulent luxury, but as a base camp for exploring this great city and in terms of providing value for money the Landmark delivers on all levels.

  • Liked — The food
  • Disliked — There is a small, but steep slope to climb to enter the hotel, might be difficult for older travellers or people with disabilities.
  • Tips/Secrets — Try the Greenhouse restaurant!

We stayed at the Landmark hotel in may 2005, we cannot fault it in any way, the rooms were very nice, very comfortable bed and great service from the staff, very polite and efficient. The breakfast was fantastic, a great selection and very good food, something for everyone. If you choose landmark you will not be disappointed, we stayed on lifestyle floor, with use of vip lounge with drinks and bites just about any time of day so i think overall worth the extra money .
We have just booked the Landmark again for a 3 day stay in march before we have another holiday in thailand, so i can recommend this hotel with complete confidence.
If you book Landmark try the japanese restuarant. its absolutely fantastic food, service, and choice. and the cost cheap. A MUST!

Excellent hotel. Very good location near the nightlife and skytrain. Loads of restaurants and shops nearby.
The hotel is lovely. The check in process is done in the lounge / bar area and is hassle free and completed over a complimentary drink. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The rates are fantastic value for money and cheaper than the JW Marriott just down the road.
If I had a choice I would stay in the JW simply because I prefer the layout of the hotel. The Landmark is a bit cheaper though, and it compares very well against it and is better in some respects.
If you have booked this hotel then you will be more than happy with your choice.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It had a great location for the skyrail so you could easily get around Bangcock.
It was well worth upgrading to club class. The additional cost was soon recovered in free breakfasts, evening cocktails and free wireless LAN access.
The Huntsman pub in the basement was a very good people watching spot. Nice pool area and very nice staff.

  • Liked — the location
  • Disliked — nothing
  • Tips/Secrets — use the skrail (very cheap) and use the river boats from the grand pier (on the skyrail) to get up and down the river and sights.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at The landmark Hotel. The Hotel was luxurious, we found the staff were extremely polite, helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 18th floor and the view from the window was amazing. The room was immaculate and we certainly cant fault this hotel in anyway. The location was ideal just a short walk away from the sky train station `nana`. We hope to return here again next year.
