Stayed here for 5 nights and it is very nice!
We got breakfast on one morning but for the two of us it was 2200 baht, which is (in our mind) rather extravagant for a buffet breakfast. Sure the range was superb, as was the quality, but to pay around AUD$73.00 for two people is way too much... I can't each that much to make it justifiable..... in Asia at least!
The remaining mornings, we just grabbed a coffee and croissant at the local Starbucks, which was a more cost appropriate way to spend our time and money.
The Grand King room was well appointed, comfortable, clean and quiet, which are things that we need.
The hotel was connected through a covered walkway to the BTS Skytrain, which made access to anywhere pretty easy and very cheap. It is essentially in the middle of the cities shopping district, but no more than 10 minutes in any of 4 directions on the BTS and your in all the best 'inner areas' anyway.
We contacted them a week out to confirm the booking and to request a 'non-smoking' room, they replied that they would 'try' but could not promise, luckily we got a non-smoking room and floor. This was good as stopping in the elevator on a smoking floor almost caused us to gag, we would have been VERY upset if we were on that floor, and this review would have gone completely the other direction.
The staff (as is usual the case with Thai's) were polite and ever helpful. They offered and provided a late checkout for 2PM at no extra charge (depends on demand) which was very appreciated as we weren't flying until midnight.
That being said, if we ever go back to Bangkok, we would stay in a different location as others seemed to be even better.
