I checked in to this hotel for a one night stay in Bangkok before taking a flight back to the UK.
I booked this accommodation last minute the night before and because of the pictures of the hotel including the views, thought this would be a great end to a trip.
On arrival i have to say the check in process was a major let down. There seemed to be a problem with the communication between my agent and the hotel, and they were unable to find the reservation on the system. We were delayed to reception for about 1 hour to have this problem sorted, and even thought there was major communication problems between us and the staff, a little more customer service wouldnt have gone a miss!
We were on the 63rd floor with panoramic views across the Bangkok skyline which was pretty spectacular, and the rooms was more than adequate with two very comfortable beds, clean linnen, towls and all amenities you would need.
The hotel offers 4 main lifts to all customer floors. Even thought the lifts do a great job and are express elevators, i wasnt too happy about being packed in with many other people and then a sign coming up on the screen saying 'full' as you are approaching the 78th floor!!! I did close my eyes a little.
The space bar on the 83rd floor was a great place to spend the evening and have a drink whilst looking over the skyline further - the music was good but i have to say the service was not the best - again this could just be a personal thing but i do believe a little customer service goes a long way.
The breakfast the next morning was great - there was more than enough food in the American style restaurant and the quality was overall very good. One suggestion would be to have less tables as it was a tough annoying when people just keep banging into you as there was just not enough room.
Without sounding like someone who just complains i would say its worth a visit, but i think this hotel has become too big for the amount of guests and there are not enough staff or facilities to cope with the demand.
I personally would not stay again, but it was worth a visit - my suggestion would be to visit, take a look at the 83rd floor and have a drink but perhaps stay elsewhere that is smaller and has a more friendly and personal approach.
I am a young professional who visited with two colleagues for a wintersun holiday.
