“This time I was disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2014

I have been a big admirer of this hotel, and hence visited this hotel for the third time.

I have always admired the thrill of staying in the sky zone of this tallest hotel of Bangkok, which is the 48th tallest building in the world and offers a STUNNING view of Bangkok, both during the day and at night. The morning buffet breakfast is an absolute delight, the staff are very very friendly and speak very good English. The location in itself is a big bonus as it is in the heart of the city's shopping market , as you step out you get Indra market, every hour there is a free shuttle service to MBK mall.

What disappointed me was the very poor maintenance of the rooms and the corridors, with poor lighting. The carpets did not look fresh, had an odor. There was a lack of brightness in the room, either be that paint on the walls or the carpets on the floor. The rooms surely need an up gradation, as I could see over the years, they have not properly maintained the rooms and the quality has deteriorated.

You can pay 1000 bahts and extend your stay till 6 pm, in case you have a late night flight to catch.

I wish they take my advise and do something to improve the room qualities. Rest all is fine.

Room Tip: Select sky zone and above, you need to ask for smoking room, if u indulge in same.

Very clean and comfortable. Very friendly people. Highly recommended for business or pleasure. Will surely go there again. I have used this same hotel for few years now. The only handicap is you have to get in the lift to get to the reception area and then another lift to your room. The restaurant are found on the 78th floor. If you are claustrophobic i will not advise to use the hotel as the breakfast is on the 78 to 80 th floor.

Lovely panoramic of Bangkok city.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

Bangkok is famous for their food also clothes..so if you come to Bangkok for shopping, you can stay here. Although the room is quite old, especially the bathroom.,and the interior of the room not as 4star hotel.( need for renovation ), but this hotel has a good location, and easy access to many location...cause it's very easy to find taxi, tuk-tuk, rental car..you only stand in front of the hotel and you can find it.
And for shopping, ..there is Pratunam market in front of the hotel and also Indra shopping mall, and just walk straight about 10 minutes you can find Platinum mall.
Pratunam market opens at 5.30 am till 8 am, and from 6pm till 10 pm ( shopping street), but inside the market...it opens from 7.30 till 5 pm...
And special thanks for Baiyoke hotel staff, to give " birthday cake' for my father, when he stayed there...
You can find clothes and also if you walk 50 meters and turn right..you can find alot of traditional food or dishes there....

Extremely average hotel , average rooms , incompetent and rude check in staff who feel like they are doing you a favour. Wifi access pathetic. A lot of tourists sightseeing the hotel , waited a while for the lifts etc. I would not stay here again by choice.

We travelled in a group of 9 people, so 4 rooms were booked, 1 being a sharing room. Upon check in, we were addressed by a very rude reception clerk, who kept shaking her head as if we were doing her a favour. Firstly, our rooms were not ready, we arrived after the check in time on the confirmation. After we mentioned the check in time, they mysteriously found rooms available for us. They apparently upgraded us to superior rooms, but to me the rooms were below average. The rooms are dated, nothing good to mention.

Secondly, we were told that breakfast has not been paid for, when we pointed out to them on the confirmation, they then spoke in their language and continued, without saying anything to us. Upon going for breakfast the next morning, we were stopped and told our room did not include breakfast, they then called reception, and we were let in for breakfast. Very embarrassing!

On the first night, I went to shower, and the bathroom was flooded, because the water was not draining. Then I pulled the sheets back to sit on the bed, and to my horror, noticed blood stains on the sheets. We then asked to be moved to another room, but they said they cannot move us until housekeeping has tried to fix the problems. That to me is terrible customer service. Housekeeping inspected the room, saying they can wipe up the bathroom floor and remove the drain cover, but there would be a smell (this was sometime after midnight) and change the sheets. At this stage my husband & I were ready to move to another hotel. My husband called the duty manager to the room to discuss the problem with him. After what seemed like much hesitation, he agreed to move us to another room. Smaller than the first, but more comfortable, still below average though.

The only good thing about this hotel is that there is a family mart in the lobby which is cheap if you want to buy water, coke or snacks.

If you stay at this hotel, be prepared to see tourists all over the hotel, as this is a tourist highlight, the tallest building in Thailand. In my opinion, give this hotel a skip if you can! I will definitely not be visiting this hotel ever again.

We stayed for a night here, the location is good, it is easily reachable from the airport since the metro station is at a walk-able distance. The rooms are really very big and spacious. The bathroom clean and again very big. We hardly interacted with the staff, the hotel was quite crowded and they were always busy, so cant say much.

The breakfast spread was impressive it wasn't included in the room rent and costs quite a bit.

The best part of course is the great view of the city from the rooms both during the day and the night. Overall we had a good experience with the hotel.

Room Tip: We were in the 39th floor, the higher the better I guess.

Situated in a very unsafe and dirty part of Bangkok. Too much tourist traffic in the surrounding areas as well as the elevators.
Rooms are dated and theres a strong stench of sewage but on the bright side are fairly well lit.
Bathrooms are okay (save for the smell).
Food and minibar is fairly reasonable and fairly decent in taste.
No free wi-fi in rooms. Only in Lobby area.
We wont be stayong here again, however, its good for the budget traveller since the hotel itself is cheap, cheap food is available down the hotel and in walking distance, cheap malls and generally cheap shopping is abundant in walking proximity of the hotel.

A small incident we would like to quote is that our bag got snatched while walking back to the hotel. We adressed the matter with out hotel staff who were most casual abt it and just shrugged their shoulders. I understand that there wasnt much they could do but perhaps pointing us in the right direction towards the police station might have been helpful. A better hotel would hv had a member of the conceirge staff accompany us to aid in filling the language barrier. However, it was the absolute casualness and shrugging of the shoulders that made us feel worst!

Room Tip: Sky zone if you must!
