The first thing that hits when you get into your room (classic for me) was that the bathroom is transparent - with some exploration you will find the speaker knob next to your tub/sink - so that means, its for you to watch tv on the throne and the bath! how awesome is that! it is also adjoined to a shopping mall (called All Seasons Place) which is convenient.

i would recommend this hotel if the following were the criteria (reasons):
- you are willing to pay for it (pricey)
- you are serious about keeping fit on your holiday (most well-equipped gym i had ever seen, and ive seen quite a few)
- you are there on work (the location is parallel to the main CBD - radchaphisek road and rama Iv, most offices are located on the same road as the Conrad, or parallel to it and the staff are very helpful and efficient)
- you want a personal touch to your stay (the staff always knew my room number and who i was travelling with and the concierge always salute you correctly)
- you want to be near to radchaphisek road (the road where most of the offices are)
- you want to do fine dining and shopping (the restaurant in teh hotel is supposed to be top-notch, otherwise, long-table, bedsupeprclub, vertigo, baan kanitha and suan lum night bazaar (cheap option) are 15 mins away by cab, barring no traffic jams, and should cost no more than 80 baht)
- you want convenience (there is a tops supermarket in the shopping mall adjoining the Conrad and the restaurants in the shopping mall are good)
- you like being away from the dinge and hustle-bustle (the Conrad is an oasis of cleanliness and relaxation - however, you wont be experiencing the real colourful inside of bangkok if you dont walk down sukhumvit road at least ONCE)

i would warn you of the following:
- it is not close to the hotspots so cabs may take you for a joyride, there is a short cut through the park to get to radchaphisek road which takes 10 mins, and 50 baht max, however if caught in a jam due to not taking a short-cut (like me!) you may get stuck on sukhumvit road for an hour, pay 90 baht, and still have to walk for nearly an hour backt ot he hotel - in hindsight, if stuck in traffic take the BTS train which is all along sukhumvit road)
- the nearest station to the Conrad is Ploenchit but it still takes you at least 10 mins to walk to the Conrad from there
- the breakfast is LOTS OF bread and bread and bread, the selection of protein packed meals were limited to the omellettes and 5 dishes (3 only of which were real protein)
- be careful of photocopying your work - it cost me 330 baht for 37 pages (which is expensive by malaysian standards by 1000%)
- you wanted to be near to the hotspots this is not the place for you and some other hotels nearer to bustling areas may be the thing for you.

Other than that, as i said, the stay was good as it was relaxing and beautiful. i felt like i never wanted to leave!!!! which means, if you werent working, you wouldn be seeing much of bangkok ;) if you were working, Conrad makes you feel like rushing everything just to get 'home' to relax. The service was excellent and the staff make no fuss about anything you ask. they will arrange reservations, find restaurants and give you answers and tips on any restaurant or tours you may want to do inless than 2 minutes. all in all, it was a great experience for me, but my company was paying for it, so i didnt feel the pinch. if you have the money, go for it!

I have stayed at Conrad at least 10 times since its opening. It started out very good. Now the housekeeping is not up to par for a hotel of this calibre. For example, the first night, I took a shower at 10pm and there was not sufficient hot water. The chambermaid who turned down the bed only gave one pair of slippers. I called and spoke to the night duty manager who promised to remind the staff to put in an extra pair of slippers for the following night. No such luck! For the next two nights, we did not bother to call about the rain shower dripping down with cold water constantly, no candlelight in the bathroom (unlike previous visits), etc. The hotel is looking tired and the rates are getting higher. Try other hotel. They are sitting on their laurels.

I've stayed at a number of Conrad hotels and this is pretty typical of the Conrad experience. The room was comfortable and clean (and decorated with Thai items which is a nice touch). A nice selection of fruit and candies was provided each day. We had access to the lounge which had good service and ate one night in the restaurant which was good. Only downside for this hotel is the location which is not the best - you need to get a taxi or make the short walk to the BTS to get to anything of interest.

A short stay for 2 nights during a tight schedule business trip.

Good:
- Well decorated (which international 5 star hotel is not?)
- Sizable room, at the level of "standard"
- Polite service

Bad:
- No Combi (on request, it takes 15mins to come, as they call it "special equipment"...
- No Shaving kits (same experience, as long as those are SPECIAL)
- No FOC (yet really costly) internal service

Remark:
- If you are over 179cm, don't come anymore, unless you get unless to sleep at 45 degree slant

The Conrad is no doubt, a first rate hotel. However, I felt that since Bangkok has so many values in hotel prices, this place seemed a little too expensive at $200 per night and up. I'm used to paying that in Europe, but Thailand is not an expensive place and there are many more nice hotels that are much cheaper.

The service was excellent, but the internet seemed expensive at $20 per day, after paying so much for the room. They do provide free wifi in the lobby, but who wants to sit down there on modern style chairs for hours, trying do do work?

The location is closer to the modern area of Bangkok, such as malls and high end shopping. The train is about four or five blocks walk away, and there are plenty of modern restaurants in the area.

Went up to Bangkok for a weekend trip during Hari Raya and chose the Conrad based on reviews and perceived location.

BOOKING:
I booked online through the Hilton Honors site also requested a car at the airport to pick us up. A reply from the hotel confirming the hotel transfer and rate was received the next day after booking online.

CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT:
Check-In/Out was done at the front desk which was a little strange when staying on the exec floor, but it wasn’t an issue.

LOCATION:
I’m no expert of Bangkok, but when I looked on the map, it appeared that the Conrad was just off Sukhumvit and not very far from Siam Paragon shopping center. Unfortunately, it’s not really “close”, (i.e. walking distance), to anything. There are a few malls, (including Paragon), that aren’t TOO far away, but in Bangkok traffic, that can mean a 30-45 minute drive.

COMMON AREAS:
The lobby is huge and grand, with a very metropolitan feel to it. We also visited the Spa while there which is very nicely laid out and the treatments were top class.

FOOD:
When staying on the executive floor, it is mandatory to eat breakfast in the executive lounge. You are not allowed to eat at the main restaurant unless you want to pay. The reason I bring this up is that you are not allowed to wear shorts in the executive lounge…..ever…..even for breakfast on a Sunday. It is ok to wear torn up stained sweat pants, but it is not ok to wear a nice pair of golf shorts. I think the point of the dress code is lost there. Regardless, the food in the lounge was good, and probably the biggest selection I’ve ever seen at a lounge breakfast.

ROOMS:
The room we had was a “corner” room, which was about the same size as a regular room, but with a much larger bathroom. The room was comfy and modern with all the expected amenities. It did have a small ‘walk-in” wardrobe which would be convenient if you were staying for any extended period.

SERVICE:
Other than the strict “dress code” and pretentiousness of the lounge, the service we experienced throughout was excellent. The hotel transfer car is one of the nicest Merc’s I’ve ever seen, and if you’re travelling solo & light, there is an SLK to use as a transfer car as well.

VALUE:
We were happy with what we got and what we paid. Hotels in Thailand are all usually ridiculously cheap anyways.

OVERALL:
If/When we go back to Bangkok we’d probably choose somewhere else, simply because of location as it’s frustrating to spend a lot of your time in traffic going here or there.
