“Friendly helpful staff”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed here for just one night as a solo female traveller. Building exterior beautiful, interior of tower III very untidy, torn carpets, mouldy bathroom, broken fittings. I booked through agoda and was told I had been upgraded, cant see much of an upgrade in what I got. Room size was large I had a corner room with great views over the st. Central location. All Staff were very helpful and friendly. Not sure what rooms are like in other two towers, if better condition I would stay here again purely because the staff were probably the best I have experienced in my thailand travels.

Dear Female traveller
Thank you very much for your comment on tripadvisor. We very much appreciate your title "friendly helpful staff". Our staffs are indeed the heart of Grand President. We would like to apologies if the Hotel was not presenting itself from the best side. Maintenance is an ongoing 24 hours assignment which we give plenty of attention.
We hope you will be travelling soon again to Bangkok and remain.
With best wishes.

Having stayed at this hotel regularly for 15 years, I have been saying since about 2011 the hotel needed a refurbishment and this still remains the case.

However, the staff have a great attitude - particularly concierge and front-desk staff - and this goes a long way to making up for the 'tired' conditions of the rooms.

Suites remain large, have almost everything you need, just needs that refurb' to bring it back to what it was.

Rooms dated/dog-eared - hence no matter how much you clean old furniture, it's not going to look so clean.

Breakfast STILL has frozen butter (which is excruciatingly annoying because it simply does NOT spread on toast - which is the whole idea) however the duty manager always retrieved some 'soft' butter for me from the kitchen.

Room Tip: If you stay in Tower 2, ask for a room 'away from the birds' as the hotel next door bizarrel...

Dear Sir
Thank you very much for writing a comment on tripadvisor.com. We were pleased to read that our staff were friendly and with a positive attitude and we shall certainly inform them. We also have noted your comment regarding the room condition. After having refurbished Tower 1 and 3 last year, we hope to be be able to work soon on our Royal Suites.
We are looking forward to welcome you back in the near future.
With kind regards.

Been many times to this hotel, after a room revamp a number of years ago things are starting to get a bit shabby again.
Positives:- A good, extensive breakfast, but the choice has dropped from days of old, but still good. Good location, most staff are helpful but language barrier and some peoples expectations can change your opinion of the staff.
Against:- The rooms are getting a bit shabby ( at the lower end price range) got a free upgrade but the superior room was not really deluxe. Soi 11 is getting even more popular and busy. WiFi was poor had to stand outside the room to use. Popular with the wedding crowds from India, loudness and disruption ( but I suppose they are just having fun ).

All in all an ok place to stay but i'm sure there is better elsewhere maybe not at this end of Sukhumvit road for the price. I have seen it when it was good after the revamp a number of years ago so I've seen changes.

Probably going to look for another place for next time

Room Tip: There is a set of rooms to avoid, sorry cant remember the number, tower 3 at the front corner, its a...

I would like to commend the staff and management of this hotel for their politeness and above all their honesty. I neglectfully left a few banknotes in the pocket of my pants which I put in a laundry bag. All the banknotes were returned along with the pair of pants, which were cleaned and ironed to perfection. I don't know if it is buddhist culture or other such cultural trait, but honest staff is a sure sign of good management and quality hospitality, and should be applauded wherever you see it. Many thanks again (room 653)

We have been here twice as it is close to the main hub of shops by train at nana station . You can take the good old tuk tuk . There are a few well known bar eatery places in the same road like a German restaurant across the road a Australian bar and also a English bar . We did quite a few tours and the staff we very helpful and nothing was to much trouble

Room Tip: We always like to go up the top rooms as less traffic noise.

This is the worst hotel that I had ever stay in Thailand. Nothing about this hotel can be recommend, but the location is good. The front desk provide very bad & slow services with black face some more. Bell boy only show you the way to Tower 3 but never help to carry your luggage.
We are in a group, we book non smoking room but end up with all smoking room, and we are separated into different floor and different tower too.

Room with bad smell, facilities too old, some even not working anymore.

Room Tip: never even try this hotel, there are more hotel surrounding in Soi 11
