“for the money not bad”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 December 2006

ive stayed at the windsor suites twice in the past year and for the money and the size room you get you cant go wrong.
as a single male traveler everything you need is within walking distance of no more then 10 minutes of the hotel.
there's an excellant german restaurant right across the street from the hotel and the restaurants in the hotel are great too.
swimming pool on 14th floor i believe is pretty nice too.
my next trip to bkk i will surely stay here again.
one tip i can give that there is an open air (very small) bar right across the street that is a great place to have a cold beer and just wait for the food vendors to come walking by and you can have a feast for not even $5 usd.
they also have a disco in the hotel that stays open later than most bars so if you need a late night beer you are set.

I've been using Trip Advisor a lot to research my next trip to bangkok and the reviews have been incredibly helpful, so I thought I would also give back a little by submitting my own review of my stay the Windsor Suites.
We didn't really choose this hotel, it was one of the very few options available to us thanks to our last-minute decision to spend a weekend in Bangkok. (And I do mean last-minute - we booked our rooms through Asia Travel just a day before we flew into Bangkok!)
Anyway, our entire stay was quite pleasant except for the utterly rude and abrupt behaviour by the receptionist at check-in. Ironically, I'd been telling my companions who were travelling to Bangkok for the first time how Thailand is the Land of Smiles, only to be confronted by this woman and her boorish attitude.
Anyway, the rest of the staff were very nice so just pray you don't have to deal with this person after your long flight.
We stayed in Minister Suites which were corner suites - clean and comfortable. (we paid Bht 3,700 inc. breakfast) I've heard that their Garden Wing rooms are not as good though. Nice bathroom amenities from their in-house spa.
Breakfast was very nice, lots of options including some Asian (Chinese) items as well as eggs cooked to order. However, doesn't seem like they change the items on a daily basis. For example, same fresh fruit and juice selections on all days of our stay.
The hotel is located in quieter soi off Sukhumvit Road which is nice but only drawback is that it's pretty far (a 10 minute walk) to the Skytrain station.
Would I go back again? Well, if I had time to plan my stay, I probably wouldn't, given the amazing choice of hotels available in Bangkok, but its a decent enough choice if you are getting a good price and/or if you're travelling with family.

This is an old Embassy Suites hotel that is now run by another company. We stayed in the upper floors of the main hotel (not the Garden Wing, which I hear is pretty old.) We had a Chancelor (?) Suite - king bed plus a fold-out single foam futon in the living room.

For the price, it is a full service hotel in a decent neighborhood (we walked back and forth with our toddler and felt safe). It does have its issues though... mainly that the place is not maintained very well. Moldy shower caulking and carpets that were a bit dirty were the main things I noticed. Not enough to make you check out though.

The complimentary breakfast was very good, and for the price you are getting rooms with personal safes, self-controlled AC, minibars, dry cleaning, a pool and workout room, bakery, tailor, gift shop, bar and many restaurants. Service was okay - sometimes a bit abrupt, but managable.

This was our second choice hotel in Bangkok (we couldn't get into the Bel-Aire Princess), and it was fine for what we needed.

We were really disapoined! We are a family with 4 kids and had booked 2 ajoining rooms, non smoking on the upper floors (since we had heard that the lower floors had not yet been renovated). We were given 2 rooms NOT ajoined and the receptionist told us we should be happy we got 2 out of 3 wishes granted. We had been looking forward to our vacation for half a year and travelled half way around the world to be met this way!

We slept 3 in each room but only got sheets, pillows and towels for 2.

Brekfast was OK - we missed cheese though...

The poolarea on the 14th floor was nice but you had to carry the heavy madresses for the sunbeds by yourself and they were really heavy. My husband loves to work out and wanted to use the fitnessroom. You had to pay extra for this - 300 bht! And you could not pay on the 14th floor - you had to go down to the reception on ground floor and then back up again...

All in all - next time we go to Bangkok, we will stay somewhere else!

I book 2 rooms, but we can easely sleep in four in this all-suite hotel. Rooms are of the the size of a luxury hotel, but a sofa at the entrance can be converted into a dobble bed. 2 Tv and a lovely bathroom, it have 2 entrance a soi 20 for the main and at soi 18. I have a great breakfast and the swiming pool is really nice. The service was not exceptionally but satisfied.
A good price and good for families.

I have just returned from four days at the Windsor Suites.

Book a room on the upper floors, those that are accessible with an elevator where you must use your room card. This is two hotels in one. I got first a room on the sixth floor, dark and smelly, empty cupboards, horrible view, then, after having spoken to the management, I got a lovely one on the 19th floor.

The 19th floor suite was clean, large, nicely furnished, pleasant.

The hotel's website says "ALL rooms are deluxe suites of various sizes, fully equipped with (...) 2 sets of satellite color TV, (...) 2 individually controlled air-condition units (...)". This statement is untrue. Not ALL rooms, but rooms on the upper floors.

The "high-speed internet access" means wi-fi at 15 dollars a day.

Buffet breakfast is very good. Service is very nice.
Receptionists tend to be less polite than other personnel.

Location is OK, at 10 minutes walk from the nearest skytrain and subway station (Asoke).

Be prepared to be treated as a cheapo sex tourist from time to time. They want to get your roommate's name at check-in, only if she's a woman. You're reminded not to bring durian (a smelly fruit) and salted fish to the room!! Etc. etc.

If large suites for a resonable price are important to you, go for the Windsor Suites (upper floors!).
If not, pay 20-25 dollars more a day, and you get a five-star, world class hotel on Sukhumvit Road (for example, the Landmark) with perfect service.

we were at the winsor in april 05, unplanned. it was a total surprise to find such value for such a reasonable price in thailand. the staff was very accommodative and the counselor room was very clean and world class. naturally we extended our stay and invited several biz associates to have meetings in the suite itself at winsor. defintely, we are returning at the end of may 05 again. it is one of the best values even by Las Vegas standards.
