“unfriendly and very poor quality”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

the name "twin tower" gives me the first impression to choose this hotel, and the travel agent Noi ( who cheated us and taken lot of money) strongly recommended to go to this hotel.
we booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Unfortunately we just checked out after one night.

people said; Thai culture is very polite and friendly, thus, it doesn't seems like that.

the reception team does not even look at us on arrival, they were pretending busy doing nothing, first I greeted them " Sawadika" then they looked at us and greeted. probably we are Asians,

we know that refund is not possible, but at least they can offer us one day internet or one treatment from spa, but simply they just refused.
there is a nice polite friendly gentleman outside the counter who organized us a vehicle to go to airport.

Luxury lobby like 5 star hotel, all kinds of tour group live there. The room is clean, old and huge, maybe because not so many facility inside. We tried their spa, not great like we imagine. The breakfast restaurant is good but not so many choice. Another thing I want mention, when we walk around the hotel to the supermarket airing night time, we almost robbed by the boy who on motorbike. My thai friend told me this hotel is mainly for tour group, nothing to do around the hotel because all very local people and street there. Over all, this is a good choice at lower budget.

This hotel is good value for money, Grade and big room. Although is old hotel service is good and check in and checkout process is fast, everything is inside the hotel as well swimming pool, saloon, restaurant, tour service, message, spa and lounge, but 1 thing is that the WIFI is not free.

Room Tip: Superior Room is on one floor, all windows mounted, is your luck when allocated by hotel front desk

Very good choice if you want to go to Thailand!

Where to start! Hmmm.... Well my partner and I were booked here via a travel agent in Bangkok and by all accounts, we had very little reason to doubt the choice given the service we had so far received from the agent. However, despite the glossy pamphlet and the grand looking entrance, this hotel is really and truly a disappointment.

We stayed for 2 nights, having arrived back in Bangkok from the south in the evening. When we arrived the receptionist proceeded to check our booking and after a few glances at us and whispers to other members of staff including a manager, it became apparent to us that there might be a problem - but sadly, this was not effectively communicated to us. Instead, we were told that our room was "not ready yet" and asked to wait in the bar area. Given that it was about 8pm (and bearing in mind that checkout is at 12pm and it was low season) we found that very hard to believe!
After waiting for about half an hour with zero communication from the reception staff, my partner approached them to find out about the progress of our check in. Again, he was fobbed off with excuses and ended up having to speak to management to complain- not a great start!

Once we had finally been given a room (supposedly upgraded) we were shown by the concierge the to room 1053 which was AWFUL. This room was dirty and the equipment tired. The carpets were stained and the bathroom disgusting. There were black hairs in the bath and what appeared to be a botched repair job to a large patch of damage in the bath using poly filler! When I complained to the concierge he tried to ignore my concerns and told me that there was no damage, ignoring the hairs as though we should accept this standard! As I said to the concierge, if my own home is not like this I'm certainly not going to pay for and accept it on holiday!

We were eventually moved to another room which was better and cleaner but even so, this hotel needs to update it's facilities. All lights are controlled by one bedside panel which makes it difficult when you first come into the room- this should perhaps be revised for safety reasons! The TV is very old and there is no free wifi , which is very surprising in a hotel of this size given that most small hotels and cafes offer free wifi all over Bangkok! Instead you have to pay ridiculous fees for it and you can only purchase it at the reception!
The bathroom definitely needs updating. The bath was small and old and there was barely any room for anyone above 6ft to comfortably shower without the fear of bashing their head on the ceiling!

The only real pros of the room were that it was cleaner than the first room and the towels and bed linen were clean.

Breakfast was thankfully pretty good with a good selection of food to cater for the clientele and room service was efficient when we used it (though a little over priced for what you actually get). The doorman was pleasant when we asked for a local restaurant frequented by Thais however, we were taken to a seafood restaurant that we know to be a bit of a tourist trap with over priced, average food so you're better off finding a local cafe with free wifi to do your own research!

In terms of customer service there is a lot that needs to be done here, in particular with regards to the concierge service. The concierge on duty on the 26th and 27th Aug had an appallingly rude attitude throughout our stay. He deliberately ignored me when I sought help, looking straight through me and then attempting to serve another guest that approached claiming that he "thought [we] had been seen to" which was a blatant lie. Incidentally this is the same concierge that claimed there was no damage to the bath in room 1053! If this is the standard that the Twin Towers believe is good customer service then there is a serious problem. I must however thank the duty manager on the 27th who dealt with our initial concerns, promising to speak with the main manager about the concierge the next day- I hope he did!

All in all, there are better hotels to stay at in Bangkok which maintain high standards even in low season- I'd recommend a stay at the Rembrandt!

The price of this hotel is very good. $55 and near to most attractions. ie shopping and markets. It is generally clean and very comfortable.

There are a couple of things they need to address. One is bathroom. We had black hair throughout our shower which was horrible. They fixed it and offered to give us another room, but one with twin beds. Not sure if they appreciated how disgusting it is to find hair in your shower (I showed them photos),

You have to pay for internet. And it is inconvenient. You get to your room expecting at the least to be able to charge it to your room (it should be free) but realise you have to go downstairs to get it. No-one tells you at check in. Checked in two times, so it is not standard.

If you have an issue, they are okay responding, but would be nice to have feedback forms in the room, not at the place you buy internet from!!

We had difficulties finding light switches, took ages to find. Another small thing the guys who bring up your luggage could show you in a flash.

Would definitely recommend this hotel, but hope they read these notes (as it is too late for me to fill out the form I finally found downstairs). TIP: leave forms in room and get feedback there, not on TA!

Thank you for the amazing service, when you engage with someone, they go above and beyond. Just not 100 per cent all the time. Some of the staff seemed distant with questions! And thank you for the upgrades, very much appreciated. And hopefully housekeeping will look for hair in the bathroom in future...not a good look.

Recommended but don't be afraid to let them know if you have glitches like we did. Rooms are big, well appointed and apart from our hair incident, clean. It is also quiet at night, though suggest you ask for a room away from lifts.

Room Tip: Ask for a high room

Upon arrival at the hotel I was surprised by the looks of the building. Everything seemed pretty good. The entrance hall is pretty nice so it wasn't until 5 minutes later the horrors started.

First of all they couldn't find our reservation, which may just be a mistake made by hotels.com - But we were met with an attitude that was more like "why are you claiming to have a reservation, when you clearly don't".

We made the reservation less than 24 hours earlier, so we only had the confirmation on email.

This led to us being 'forced' to pay 60 baht for 30 minutes of internet in order to prove we had a reservation. They were still sceptical of the situation, but asked us to wait. This took about an hour before they told us they were full, but had upgraded us to a "junior suite" free of extra charge. That was naturally a welcoming move on their part.

The room was dark (bad lighting), not very clean and the "no durian policy" wasn't exactly enforced strictly. The worst part was that the lighting in the room is controlled by an apparatus next to the phone in the room. And the buttons barely work. When you come in late at night this means the entire room is pitch dark, until you get to the apparatus (which isn't lighted either). And then you still have to press some buttons and hope you hit one of the lighting ones. Instead you risk pressing a button ordering room service, room cleaning or what do I know...

The restaurant in the lobby is an EXCELLENT place to spend a lot of time. Just order a simple dish, watch the rude and lazy waitors wander around for about an hour, while you listing to terribly "Karaoke" songs - and you'll have a seriously overpriced meal that lacks in quality.

The reason the hotel is getting 2 stars - and not 1 - is because the concierge was very helpful and friendly. And he actually spoke english, which was a real pain in the butt with most of the reception...

Room Tip: Don't expect much.
