“pleasant experience......”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 January 2014

our experience at this property was pleasant, made possible by a centrally located hotel, high moralled staff, very decent breakfast and good sleep qualitty.

it is seven to ten minutes walking distance from the CHONG NONG SI BTS station.taxi services are aplenty and for the more adventrous bus services to the BTS (SAPHAN THAKSIN) are available.

this property is located in a commercial area, with jewellery and tailor shops and eateries lining the road. as an additional landmark guideline this hotel is located midway between the NARAI and PULLMAN, silom. the location shown on the google map is not accurate.

the deluxe rooms are big, clean and he bathroom is well fitted with a separate shower and long bath.basic toilet amenities are provided, along with a hair dryer and irong board, there is also a business desk with a nice chair. suitable number of sockets are available for charging the electronic equipment.

free wi-fi service is available although signal in the rooms is somewhat weak.

the breakfast is very decent with a large variety of juices, salads, cereals, live egg station, breads,.soup and hot dishes complement with tea and coffee stations.

the staff are co-operative and helpful and one service call that we make to unclog the shower outlet was attended to promptly.

the security at the hotel may not be very tight but the overall atmosphere is very conducive for families. the icing on the cake was the very competitive rate we obtained on line.

highly recommend this property if you want a decent, clean, reasonably priced and quiet place to stay.

Excellent value for money! My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights on arrival in Bangkok before leaving fom Krabi and do not have a bad word to say about it! The rooms are clean and spacious and the hotel itself is very nice. The view from our balcony was also brilliant!

Furama Silom is a 5 minute walk from Patpong market (one of the best markets in Bangkok) where you can find lots of great bars, restaurants and pubs. There are plenty of food stools, massage parlours around as well as a taxi rank just outside of the hotel for you to get taxis or tuk tuks. Your choice.

I would not reccomend booking any trips/excursions through the help desk at the hotel as they charge almost double what local TAT (tourist information centres) charge, just jump in a tuk tuk and ask them to take you to the TAT. They should charge you around 40baht for the journey.

We stayed in the Deluxe which was lovely, huge bed and great pressure in the shower! The breakfast buffet had a great selection of food and drinks and was very clean.

The only thing that could possibly be improved is the temperature of the water in the bath - we had to fill up the kettle a few times to get it as hot as we liked!

After reading previous reviews, we were a bit apprehensive as there had been some very negative comments, but we were very pleasantly surprised and impressed when we arrived and checked in. Check-in was simple and quick and then we saw the room - WOW, it was enormous, clean and so very comfortable.

We were on the 11th floor and had a great view from the room. It was huge and airy, with our own little balcony. It actually felt more like a suite as there was a large sitting area as well as the bed area. The room is the full width of the hotel.

However, while the room looks recently renovated, the bathroom is still a bit old style, with an in-bath shower. The frosted glass between the bathroom and bedroom is a bit disconcerting!

Overall, the hotel lived up fully to the pics on the internet and I think I actually took some that look just like those we had seen.

The hotel is also excellently located, close to both the BTS and MRT lines, as well as within walking distance of the Patong nightlife areas. This alone should be a reason to stay there! Bangkok's public transport is great if you stay on one of the BTS or MRT but the traffic is horrendous, so try and stay close to the trains and save a lot of pain!

The breakfast was also excellent - it was a wide ranging spread, including cereals, western food, Thai food, fruit, breads. One of the biggest breakfast spreads we have seen! And all was very tasty.

The upstairs pool deck gives amazing city views and is a nice relaxing space in the centre of a bustling city. It is just as the pictures show.

One downside this that the lobby is not very well laid out, but you can work out what is where. The guest toilets are a bit small if you want to freshen up before your room is ready.

Its located between two metro stations. Its close to tons of street food and the old bangrak area as well. I could tell the hotel was an older hotel and has been recently remodeled. However, its not fancy, but I bought travelzoo vouchers to redeem for 3 nights. If I had to pay full price, I would only rate this property 3 stars because it was average. The bellhop was very nice and pleasant. The ladies at the front desk were also helpful. When I reached my room, I noticed that were was only one set of toothbrush. I had to call 3 times before they brought another set over and took them over a span of 4-5 hours. I booked the deluxe room. The rooms were very spacious and included a sofa. I did find the glass windows in the bathroom with blinds a bit irritating. You could still tell the carpet's age despite the upgrades. The breakfast is a huge buffet spread. Its decent, but nothing fancy. If there was a deal, I think its worth booking. Otherwise, there are nicer hotels and more centrally located for the price.

It is a bit of a walk to the busy Silom area, but the hotel is very good. Room's (deluxe) are spacious, clean and provide all comfort you need. Breakfast is more than sufficient, also for the western traveller.
The only downside I have encountered was the very late cleaning of the room.
Yes, a place to return to.

Average hotel, foyer renovated and shows promise, then was disappointed when I go to the room, they are huge but very dated and old and stink of stale smoke. I found the tiles floor of my room always dirty with long black hairs and dust. The roof top pool is great and the view amazing but gets very crowded. Breakfast was the best part. Staff efficient but not friendly which is a surprise in Thailand. Not a good location bit of middle of nowhere and 10min walk to sky train. Taxi drivers have no idea where this hotel is. Better hotels for better value in BK. Won’t stay again.

I was traveling solo on personal business so it didn't really matter where I stayed. I picked the Furama because I am familiar with that particular area. It has a few pros and cons. In fact, I would make the same exact comments as a previous reviewer, "mRgonawaN" which is why I'm not going to repeat any of it here. I just want to add a few good things about the place however:
The BREAKFAST BUFFETS ARE HUGE! They look like a brunch buffet but everyday is like that. Good local and western food, too.
Going out of the hotel towards the LEFT: adjacent to hotel's entrance is a coffee shop with excellent coffee (and I'm picky about my java!) Further down is a good internet place with 4-5 computers and friendly staff. Further down, across from the hindu temple is a small street with lots of food stands. Going out towards the RIGHT: you'll find a small 7-eleven kind of store; further down, Soi 5 has a market on weekdays with all kinds of food; if you walk down to the end of the soi then veer right, you'll come upon a small coffee stand with, again, excellent espresso! (Didn't know Thai people had become so fond of coffee!) Overall, I had an excellent stay at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: Mine was on the 7th floor. It was a standard one but more like a mini-suite with a large L-shaped s...
