What a great little boutique hotel. If you are in search of great service and are on a budget, this is the place to stay. Not only do you get free breakfast (via asiarooms.com), but you get awesome service from the staff. Always friendly and smiling.

The room ended up being much larger than expected. Not sure if I was upgraded but the room had a separate lving room, a huge bed and a nice and clean bathroom.

For my first trip to Bangkok, this hotel was a great find. Thanks to all the tripadvisor reviews that helped me with this search!

You don't have to pay top bucks to enjoy world class service in Bangkok - the Swiss Lodge is one of the finest hotels I've ever stayed in.
Location, near the Skytrain, is excellent, and it's on a side street, which is a plus. Lots of restaurants, streetside food vendors and shops in the vicinity.
The room was nicely appointed, with great bath amenities, soft towels and comfortable bathrobes and slippers. In-room safe was good and the mini-bar was well-stocked and reasonably priced. Bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast, included in the rate, was delicious. I ate dinner there twice and both meals were supurb, featuring German-Swiss specialties - great for me, because while I love Thailand, I don't like Thai food!
The staff is fabulous and they are very helpful and always warm and welcoming. I was traveling alone and appreciated that special touch - it helped me feel at home.
I'd heartily recommend Swiss Lodge.

Last August was actually my 2nd time to the Swiss Lodge and most certainly not my last. The SERVICE is truely UNBEATABLE!!!! I stayed at the Shangri la, in 2002, on my occasion the service was awful and it doesn't even come close to what we receive at the Swiss Lodge.

It’s a great base to experience the city. The rooms are well equipped and very clean. Marble bathrooms with all the girly & men's grooming bits etc. It has to be said, I have stayed in 4&5* hotels in England and Europe and I truely believe these rooms were cleaner and nicer.

Brilliant, delicious & great breakfast choice. For lunch or dinner they do an mmmmm cheese fondue/raclette (highly recommend)

My dad goes here on business more than once EVERY year. It is a gorgeous boutique. I'm a big fan of the Swiss Lodge and currently hope to go back next year.

Due to a diving accident I ended up staying in Thailand longer than originally planned and had to visit a hospital in Bangkok prior to be ok'd to fly home. Stayed at the Swiss Lodge in Nov 2004 purely on the recommendation of the doctor I was seeing at the BNH hospital which is 2 minutes walk from the hotel.

The local area is Silom which is a business district however the hotel is also very close to Patpong (not an attraction for me as I'd already spent two weeks in Pattaya which is very similar and at least has a beach too). Plenty of shopping locally and the BTS Skytrain station is close by and makes it easy to get to virtually anywhere.

The hotel itself is very friendly and helpful. The reception staff speak excellent English. The rooms are spacious clean, comfortable and very quiet. However I actually preferred the medium priced room to the deluxe one I stayed in for the last night. The restaurant is good for breakfast but expensive compared to locally available fare (there's plenty of good places to eat locally for far less - try the fresh tender coconut from local street stalls).

I have no compliants about the Swiss Lodge it was excellent and had I not been sick with decompression illness then I'm sure I would have enjoyed it even more. I would definitely go there again.

The Swiss Lodge was recommended to me by some Canadian university colleagues, including a long-time resident of Thailand and others who travel there regularly on business. They advised that the hotel is exceptionally well located, close to the Sky Train which provides easy and direct access to many other areas of the city, including the Chao Phya River. My colleagues spoke about the delightfully friendly staff, and the comfortably furnished, immaculately maintained, and very quiet guest rooms, adding that the Swiss Lodge provides excellent overall value. They spoke the truth.

But not entirely. I do not recall them mentioning the efficient limousine service which eases you through Bangkok's notorious traffic to and from the airport. Nor did they speak of the fascinating view from the hotel's rooftop patios of the ever-changing scenes of street vendors setting up their stalls in the morning, busily hawking their foods and wares all day, and magically melting into the darkness with their equipment and remaining stock late in the night.

The Swiss Lodge is small, essentially an unpretentious boutique hotel where the staff more than compensate for their occasional struggles with English by the warmth with which they recognize and acknowledge a guest when you enter the compact lobby. If you are so inclined (and can afford it), you would probably prefer the elegant riverside splendour of say, the Oriental. But if you are travelling on a budget and/or you wish to engage the frenetic rhythym of this city on your doorstep, the Swiss Lodge offers excellent accomodation value, allowing you, as it did me, some extra cash to enjoy a number of Bangkok's fine restaurants and an entertaining evening of jazz at the Oriental's Bamboo Bar.

All in all, I do not hesitate to join my colleagues in recommending the Swiss Lodge. I'd return there and have recommended it to both my son and daughter.
