“It's like back to the early 90's”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I did not capture any photo for this hotel review because there is really nothing special about Royal President. From the lobby all the way to the room, the design and the furniture looks dated back to the 90's.

The Room. I rate 3/5. The air-condition of the room that I have is simply not cool enough, I think mainly because the exhaust is much stronger than the supply, you will feel cold at the exhaust side which is just beside the entrance. The bed is comfortable enough for a good sleep. Not much cable TV channels to select.

The Breakfast. I rate 4/5. Good enough to eat. They did actually try to have some varieties for the few days that I stay there. Effort being notice.

The Location. I rate 4/5. It's much nearer to Asoke BTS compared to Nana BTS. You will need to walk about 5 minutes along Soi 15 before you reach the hotel. But take note that the pavement and road is very uneven, children might find it tiring for the walk.

The Wifi (in room). I rate 0/5. So far, this is the slowest connection I have ever encounter staying in hotels. It's slow and sometimes it doesn't load at all. But wifi at lobby is good. So if you need wifi in room, skip this hotel.

Will I stay here again? I would rather spend some time searching for other hotels.

Dear AsherAda,

Thank you very much indeed for your constructive feedback given. We really appreciate this.

I accept as true that our hotel is not new and that it is now a work in progress for us
in upgrading our facilities for the utmost satisfaction of our hotel guests.

On behalf of the management, please accept my sincere apology for not meeting below expectation during your recent stay with us.

The internet access problem -- we actually noticed the same issue and already changed the internet service provider for the entire hotel dated 15 October 2013, so it could be that the issue still happened during the transition period. The internet bandwith is now fast and stable.

Air-con cleaning have already been carried out for this room after you checked out, almost every rooms were fully occupied everyday during the first two weeks of October 2013.

Cable TV channels, we also noticed the same issue following comments from our recent guests, for that reason, we will upgrade the cable TV package soon with adding more TV channels for our hotel guests.

Looking forward to welcoming you back to Royal President Hotel, should you give us a second chance to serve you and your friends.

Thank you and best regards,
Thitichai

We stayed here twenty odd years ago and although it is getting tired it is still a good reliable place to stay. The staff are friendly and so so helpful. We had a deluxe room, which was comfortable and peaceful (really slept well). Breakfast was included and was great. The internet was also included and proved to be very challenging, slow and difficult to connect. Swimming pool was cold as there is limited sunshine on the pool area. All in all I would stay here again as it is comfortable and reliable and the location is fantastic.

Thanks again Royal President.

Room Tip: Go for a deluxe room as this is in the main building, the deluxe suite is in another building. Also...

Went there with family and found it a very nice place. Good spacious rooms and extremely comfortable. Situated in a good location, many shopping places are at walking distance. Good staff and good spread of breakfast too. More than anything, its a very good value for money.

Rent was cheap, but people were friendly and the breakfast was really good. The hotel representatives were helpful to find cabs to airport. They have tuktuk service to the sky train swell. Beside that breakfast was really fresh with lot of variety.

Sukumvit Road is a very busy strip in central Bangkok. Each of the streets leading off Sukumvit is called a Soi. The Royal President is well located on Soi 15. It is a couple of hundred meters from the busy thoroughfare, so it is very quiet for such a bustling area.

10 minutes walk will take you to Sukumvit metro station and Asok train station. The train will take you to Saphan Taksin from where you can catch a boat on the Chao Phrya. Cross Sukumvit and catch the number 2 bus for 30-40 minutes to get to the attractions of Khao San Road and the Royal Palace. Along the way, look out for the shopping district of Pratnam.

Our room on the 12th floor gave us a good eastern aspect of the city. Housekeeping was thorough and even made up our room on those days when we left the hotel late. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of western and Thai standards. The staff in general were very helpful and polite.

Beware the taxi mafia out the front. If you need a taxi, hail one and make sure they turn on the meter.

Room Tip: There are some large buildings nearby. If a good view is important, then specify it.

I stayed in two different wings,in two different perriod of time. I had the misfortune to stay there when their neighbor was under construction and the noise was awful. In the other wing, across the street, when I was back, after a few days missing, was much quiet. The pool is not very big,but probably because of the noise was empty of people. Position is good because is a very good shopping area around ,and the MRT station is really close (5 min). Everuthing in this hotel is or is looking old. Including the personnel. Probably was a very good hotel, many years ago!

Room Tip: -if you need a taxi for long distances,or for many days, is better to talk with the private taxi dri...
