My wife and i arrived late in the afternoon in Bangkok.
After ditching a rather wanting 'boutique' hotel we ended up at the Tawana.
The bed was soft, the room fairly spacious and the staff very helpful.
Everything was clean, the hotel has super fast free in-suite WIFI.
Perfect position in surrawong road among all the nightlife and excitement of the silom area.
The location is close to the skytrain, subway and Lumphini Park, and just steps away from tons of restaurants.
The Tawana was a good experience and we would come back.

I chose this hotel from the web--it offered a touch of old Thai style and was central to the city. We weren't disappointed! The rooms were lovely and comfortable with luxurious toiletries.

We arrived Sunday night and stepped out of the hotel in search of the infamous Thai Night Market.

We finally found it but not after innocently stumbling into the notorious Patpong sex area! We were offered "ping pong" and showed laminated cards with a selection of god only knows what on them (I didn't look).

The food market (as opposed to the sex market) was only about 2 blocks away--filled with Thai workers eating Pad Thai and soups, satay and seafood on tables and chairs put up by the roadside. The food was fresh and excellent!

They say on the website that "guests" aren't allowed in after 6pm--I'm not so sure this is enforced by the door staff. (I saw an older man sneak in with a Thai lady after hours!).

One drawback-- the breakfast buffet is expensive and just OK. The coffee not good. We found a Starbucks just down the road thankfully!!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing onto the pool. The street rooms are triple glazed and quiet! Wifi great!

Given the hotel class, I didn't expect much from this hotel but still it's way below standard.

Location: good location only if you want to go to Patpong. It's not that close to the mall/train station which located on another block on Silom rd. Although it is walkable to Silom, it is not a good idea especially if you are traveling with family and kids to walk through Patpong red light district.

Room: Hotel looks nice only on the lobby which has been renovated. Hallway is smelly. Room is very old with mold on the ceiling. .....FOUND A COCKROACH IN A BATHROOM !!!

Breakfast: Not bad

Staffs: Seem okay

Pool: Small but seem nice. Gym is also small.

Parking: Free parking and easy to find a spot

Wifi: no free wifi even in the lobby you still have to ask staffs for password.

Bottom line: This used to be a good hotel but no maintenance and is running down. You can find plenty of other new hotels nearby with about the same price or even lower.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room. Avoid the old room.

I spent three nights at The Tawana last week. The hotel is in a very central location and only a few minutes walk to the Patpong night markets and only about 10 minutes to one of the BTS stops on Silom.

The first night was a late check-in at around 2am after a long drive. The night staff were professional and courteous and there was no problems with quickly getting into our rooms. All the front desk staff that I dealt with over my stay had good English language skills so we had no issues communicating our requests. The lobby entrance is a more classic style with lots of marble, but looks like it has been kept very well or even possibly recently renovated but in the original style. It definitely did not look 'tired' like other hotels I have stayed at in the Bang Rak area.

The rooms are well-appointed with very comfortable beds and new high quality linens. My first night I was in a twin bed room because a King bed room was not available due to our late check-in. The following nights I was in a single King bed which also came with a very comfortable body pillow, which I considered a wonderful bonus! The bathroom was clean and well-kept and with fixtures that looked reasonably new which furthered my opinion that the hotel has been renovated/refit in the last couple of years.

The pool area is in the interior courtyard and was in good condition and there is bar-service, but I didn't take advantage of it.

Depending on your room rate the breakfast buffet might be included or you might just get a 50% discount card. Normally the buffet is 500 Baht, but with 50% off I think it offered outstanding value. The restaurant is nice and tidy with good service, but the quality of the food was really quite impressive. I was very surprised to see a sushi chef preparing fresh nigiri each morning. I thought that was just amazing. They have opted to choose quality over quantity in the buffet, but that doesn't mean it was lacking. A good selection of breakfast pastries, a variety of breads and jams/jellies, fresh fruit and juice, omelet chef, Thai food, cereals and so on. At 250Baht I felt like this was a screaming deal. Frankly it would be even worthwhile at 500Baht if you were hungry enough to take advantage of it.

Room Tip: I think the single King size bed rooms seem to be nicer than the twin bed rooms.

Stayed here for one week last summer with my boyfriend. Fantastic service! Great staff! And a really beautiful hotel! Very central and it takes you about 5 min in a taxi to all the shopping centers! Awesome pool! Loved it! Great food also, can't complain!

the tawana bangkok hotel is a beautiful hotel with a historical charm to it. entering its lobby makes you feel like you are transported to a time gone by. Beautiful mouldings and stairways with wood panelling just adds to the charm of this hotel

the check in process was a breeze and within 5 to 7 mins i was in my room which was cleaned immaculately the bellman explained the offers the hotel offered and how to use the universal remote in the room

the staff of the hotel all speaks english very well and were very helpful

the location of the hotel was awesome with several interesting bars and eateries within walking distance of the hotel . the hotel also offers a tuk yuk service to the train station and the river . patting market and little japan is just a stroll away.

the pool and the restaurant was also good and i would love to go there again soon - using a 3rd party website might get you a better deal .

My stay was pleasant. Staff were friendly. My room was very dated, pillows and bed were not comfortable. Shower and bath were small and the shower curtain was heavy and got in the way. I also noticed ants and a cockroach in my bathroom. The cleanliness of my room left a lot to be desired. This hotel is in an excellent location, but is in need of a major refurbishment.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a non smoking room, otherwise you could end up in a smelly smoky room like I d...
