Reviewed 3 March 2014

Staff is not friendly specially the lady on the reception. Please also behave well with Indians like you do with all your other guests. I think RAMADA in India specially New Delhi staff is more courteous.

The hotel itself was good and our room was nice, and had a good view of the nearby city. The buffet breakfast was mostly Eastern but had some good Western choices too. The pool was nice and its always fun to swim high up in a building. The staff were a bit slow and didn't speak much English, but were happy to help us when needed. The location isn't the best as it's quite far from the city centre meaning you'll either spend time or money trying to get to all the sights and whatnot. The driver running the hotel bus service WILL try and rip you off. IGNORE HIM. On our first day he tried to con us into spending 2000 baht on a tour we didn't want to do to get to the city, which he said would be too hard to get to because of the protests. We walked 2m and found a tuk-tuk that took us there in 20 minutes for 250 baht. Again, the hotel driver was horrible. I'd recommend trying to find something equally as good (which wouldn't be hard) that is closer to the action. It's within walking distance (about 10-15 mins) from the Central World Plaza, but unless you like overpriced shopping malls there's really no point going there either.

Hotel was chosen for us by operator and, as we were only there for two nights, we were not too worried about location/facilities. It was certainly cheap (£48 night) but the standards reflected that.
We had arranged an airport transfer by the hotel and it was all confirmed by email. But, despite following all the instructions to the letter, they were not in place and we had to mess around for over 30 mins before we found them at another gate with our name spelt completely differently: it wasn't even a hotel limo, just a random taxi that someone hailed and who turned out not to know where he was going.

Room was large and clean, but a little tired with few pictures or nice touches. Small CRT tv. Bed large, but not very comfortable. All felt very transient like those cheaper, mass market hotels in lLondon .

Breakfast buffet was uninspiring for westerners and you have to pay extra if you want fresh coffee or orange juice. We had dinner there once and it was fine, though expensive.

Wifi is free, though limited to pool and lobby. Pool is outside and fine, but chairs and tables were very dirty.

Getting back after a trip was difficult as many drivers didn't want to go there (off the beaten track) - important to bear in mind if you're around for a few days, wanting to go out a lot. Locally the hotelis surrounded by the usual mix of small food, massage and general shops spiliing onto the street; we weren't unduly pestered though.

Not very impressed, but not a disaster.
