My husband and I stayed in Krungthep Wing for 6 nights last November. We used the Limo pickup which was great after an 11 hour flight. We can easily say that this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in. We had a lovely view from our balcony day and night. I've fall in love with the macaroons that they brought to our room daily and the welcome drink. The internet connection in our room was fine. The breakfast, free afternoon tea and the evening cocktails were fab. We used the other wing's breakfast twice. It had an amazing range of food but we personally prefer the peaceful atmosphere in the Krungthep Wing. The location is perfect, we used the boat to see the temples and when we wanted to go to the shopping malls and the city centre, we used the metro. We never had to use the taxi. For arranging tours and tickets for shows we used the concierge. They were really helpful and they arranged really good seats. If you don't want to go to the centre for shopping and food, take the hotel's shuttle boat to Asiatique. The bar is great but we found the live music a little bit too cheesy for our taste but it is personal preference in the end. Definitely try the chocolate martini and the fudge in the Chocolate Boutique. Last but not the least, the orchids in the hotel are stunning.

Room Tip: Krungthep Wing 15th floor.

Stayed at the Shangri-La Bangkok for 2 nights in December, great pool area fantastic dinner buffet and impressive dinner cruise. A little expensive (£180 per night) considering the Amari Attrium down the road has quite similar rooms and includes breakfast for £40 a night.

Room Tip: Ask for room over looking the pool!

From the Limo pick up at Airport things were generally superb. Staff generally were so charming and we really enjoyed our 3 night stay en route back to London. Pool staff always found chairs in just the right places and they were often round with various refreshments.
We had a Riverview suite with access to the Horizon lounge which we did not use. Plenty of space. We took full advantage of the inclusive laundry service having been travelling for three weeks in Australia. One disappointment was the concierge whose English was really poor who tried to fob us off with minimal help when enquiring about various boat trips. I insisted on more details and eventually he found a leaflet......probably the worst on our entire trip.
Tomorrow we leave on our trip back home with the Limo booked and an agreement that we can order room service breakfast at no additional cost. This was our second stay at this hotel and we would return again.

We stayed in the Krungthep wing for 3 nights and loved it.

The service was impeccable. Everyone was friendly and courteous. Nice touch was being referred to by name. Took advantage of the free breakfast, high tea and happy hour.

We ran into a situation where I involved the hotel staff, and the acted promptly and our issue was resolved within hours. It seemed that all of the managers knew what had happened because they would constantly approach us, asking if everything was resolved to our satisfaction.

The hotel is beautiful. Our room had an amazing view facing the river of kings. The grounds are well maintained. I was content just to stay lounge by the pool.

If there is one thing that I could say, and I know it's nothing to do with the hotel, but we went for a walk around the hotel and all we saw were jewelry stores and tailors. I know that Thailand is big on that, but we got so frustrated, we just turned around and went back to our hotel as there wasn't much else to see.

I have reservations about returning to bangkok, but I think if I have the opportunity to stay there again, I would change my mind.

Stayed at the Shangri-la hotel early January.A very busy hotel, with very professional
Staff, very helpful especially the guest relations. The rooms overlooking the hotel are ok nothing exceptional, bathrooms need to be upgraded as well as the rooms. Don't think of eating at the lobby lounge, half an hour is requested to be served!!!!! the Italian restaurant next to the pool was
No good, tasteless, As for breakfast it is excellent with a wide range of varieties
Don't miss it.Room service is highly appreciated.
The service we received from Front Office manager and the Resident Manager when we had to admit my son to hospital was amazing. They sent with us a very nice young lady with very good command of the english language to accompany us to the hospital where my son was admitted for high fever, she stayed with us at the hospital until after midnight. This gesture of the hotel proves the efficiency and responsibility of the management towards their guests, which we highly appreciated.
Will definitely return to this hotel.

We recently spent one night at the Shangri La in Bangkok for the sole purpose of enjoying an evening out on one of their boats for dinner - the Horizon Cruise. Well what a stay it turned out to be. The hotel was beautiful. The kids and I swam in the pool which is located along the riverside. The deluxe rooms were to die for. My Diamond Membership was a nice touch with afternoon tea in the Horizon Lounge on arrival, and drinks before boarding the boat for dinner. The boat cruise was great, there was four adults and two kids. We were well taken care of, the food selection was good, and the sights by night where tremendous. The next day we concluded our visit with breakfast in the Horizon Lounge. What a great thing to do for a family who already lives in Bangkok...

From the moment we checked in we were so impressed with this lovely hotel. The staff so charming and helpful - the lobby beautiful with amazing displays of orchids and so elegant. Our huge bedroom with balcony overlooking the river, giving incredible views both day and night. We had dinner at Salathip, the Thai restaurant and sat outside by the river watching the boats go by and ate an incredible meal. We had breakfast at the Next 2 restaurant and my husband, who has eaten many breakfasts in some of the world's best hotels, thought this to be the best he'd ever had. Whatever you wanted was there, from fresh fruit and yoghurt, to Thai, to pastry chefs cooking croissants, to eggs (whichever way) bacon, the list is endless. The pool was palm fringed, lovely and not crowded, within a minute of lying down, someone came with iced water and cold face towels, and after an hour fresh fruit kebabs - fantastic - could have stayed for a week! Wonderful position the sky train literally just down the street, as was the pier where we hired a long tail boat and zoomed up the river to the Grand Palace, which was stunning, but you do have to cover your shoulders and no shorts, otherwise you have to go back to the entrance and get a shirt or sarong to put on! For shopping afficionados, look no further than MBK (handbag heaven) and so easy on sky train.
Sorry if this review is full of superlatives, but so was our stay at the Shangri-La - can't wait to go back!!
