Very good place to stay in Bangkok. Close to the river, close to the sky train and the boats on the river going to the great palass. Very good service and excellent food. You will be satisfied if you choose this hotel.

we stayed in this hotel for two nights. Unfortunately we were in the old section, wich i do not recommend, even if you do have a more private pool in that section, it is a littel bt shabby and a little bit dirty.
The new part looks amazing It has a huge pool, several restaurants and bars. I loved the location!

This is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed at. The location is right on the water convenient to the water taxis. It's also a short walk to the sky train. I would stay at this hotel again when in Bangkok. It has large rooms and bathrooms, great staff and a wonderful breakfast buffet.

Can't say enough good things about the Shangrila Bangkok!

I've stayed many places in BKK, but, on this Xmas - New year's 13 day trip with my Mother, chose to stay in this gigantic lovely old school hotel for a reason: i planned for it to be our Haven- if we wanted to ever relax and just stay in.

I wasn't wrong. Having stayed at the Shangrila HK and JKT i knew this to be a very old world, old school chain that really takes care of it's guests.. it may not be super "cool" like the W - but what it makes up for in "sleekness" is that their staff is generous and lovely, No attitude ever.

LOCATION is superb, you can grab the BTS or even walk to Maggie Choos or the River boats to any stop.

It also has one of the Best THAI RESTAURANT on the river. charming'y set … with old Thai constructions, Called Sala Thip - offers great food at a reasonable price in one the most romantic ( non cheesy) settings on the Baan Chao Praya.
Local Thai Dancers with discreetly set the mood for an unforgettable meal.

The food is equally and consistently delicious around the Pool Area.. where we spent many lunches sunning and lounging and being served delicious Thai beef salads, or club sandwiches or an amazing pineapple fried rice with yummy smoothies or fresh juices…
If you get bored have no fear. around 2;30 pm every day this amusing good natured man comes and give a Aquatic Zumba class.. ( now I know this sounds tacky but frankly if you don't participate, you'll hear an hours worth of fun latin, salsa and Reaggeaton and 70s music ) , and if you do participate it'll contagiously make you smile and put you in a good mood. providing entertainment for the rest of the Sunners out by the lovely pool area.
We'd especially like to thank Danny a trainee from Singapore who was just so kind and friendly every day!
Generous on fresh towels and ice water the pool staff make staying in past lunch at the Shangrila a must ! GO POOL staff.. they make you love this hotel!

Sunset drinks served at the drinks place outside by the pier are lovely.
The Inside Piano Bar is nicer for older people…

The GYM is divine! Absolutely state of the art with Yoga and Pilates and Kickboxing classes every day. Amazing changing rooms with lovely steam baths and saunas.
The hotel is BIG which means you can actually WALK to the BTS station Sapham Taxim.. which, when you've understood that taking Taxi's in BKK is a total waste of time you will come to ADORE.
What else can i tell you?

Our Room which was a River View - was lovely, with the most beautiful views over the river on the 12th floor. An alcove window seat - Spacious. Bathroom with great shower - good pressure and bathtub.
The room was SUPER quiet- despite this being a huge hotel with many rooms - it was obviously built like older hotels with nice thick walls for this bustling city it's remarkable!

DVD's in ur room and fun selection of movie brought to every room.
Amazing Bedding like in Every Shangrila i've ever been to .. super soft sheets and mattresses and great pillows.
The Room Service is tasty reasonably priced and Yummy !

The concierge was the only thing a bit disappointing… he made a few mistakes.. and i'd say you're better off making your own reservations at restaurants etc.. or fixing things out yourself about days embassies are open etc… rather than asking them.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a River View I think it's worth it !

I can't fault this Hotel - the staff were lovely (if a bit difficult to understand at times). Our room in the Kunthrep Wing was luxurious with a large and spotless bathroom. We had a balcony overlooking the river with the very busy bridge further down on the left so not too in our face! We ate in Salathip Thai Restaurant - good food, nice setting but bothered by mossies, Angelini the Italian Restaurant in the main building - good food and service - pleasant experience and we ate in NEXT2 for a buffet lunch which has an amazing choice of food and dishes from all round the world - very difficult to decide what to eat! Loved the Hotel and it's in a great location but didn't like Bangkok at all - but that's another story. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the river but NOT too near the BUSY bridge
