We have stayed at many Shangri- las before and the one in Bangkok does not disappoint. It is a beautiful hotel, with lots of facilities and top-notch services. We spent one week in beautiful bustling Bangkok. Loved the city and loved the hotel! We hope to go back one day! We travelled with our kid and occupied a one bedroom suite with beautiful views over the Chao Phraya river. We arrived at Chinese New Year and the hotel had prepared a small show on this occasion. We went to Chinatown which is not far from the hotel and saw the parties that were going on for New Year. Very nice! Also, the hotel is next to a skytrain station ( Saphan Taksin Station) and we went to Chatuchak Market and to Siam Square by skytrain. ( at Siam Square there were demonstrations but they were actually peaceful). One evening our child came down with high fever, he had a cold and an eye infection and the front desk were very prompt and sympathetic and sent us to a hospital ( a very modern one, by the way, where the pediatrician was a very nice lady who spoke good English). The hotel gave us a member of the staff to accompany us at the hospital and she was very helpful and nice. Thank you, Rassarin! The hotel phoned her a few times she was with us at the hospital, wanting to know how things were going on. The next day a manager called us in our room, asking if our kid was ok.
Very prompt in room dining service. Very good restaurant service ( at Next2 Cafe), which also served superb food (both a la carte and buffet). Had dinner at Shang Palace (Cantonese cuisine), great food and service. Too bad Angelini Restaurant was closed for the moment, our kid could not have his pizza. But the staff apologised for the inconvenience and sent us some chocolate. They have a big nice gym at Shangri- la Bangkok, with friendly staff. Spa is big and has very good therapists.
