Reviewed 25 March 2014

this was the 2nd time that I have stayed at the Shangri-la Bangkok, in a deluxe balcony room. i love the hotel, the service is impeccable and it is a great area to stay. close to the bts, exciting street life, great silver shops and other shops selling excellent stainless steel products. took a two hour day boat trip of the canals, the site being very near to the Shangri-la. great massage places, tailors, luggage shops and much much more.

We have been going to the Shangri la now off and on for the last fifteen years. We always stay in the Krungthep wing so can not comment on the rooms in the main wing. The service generally is very business like not what you would experience from a resort hotel. The location on the river is lovely and the skytrain next to the hotel is really convenient to access Bangkok. However there is one that could be improved on.The breakfast is a la carte and was totally unacceptable,
the three mornings we ate there, the breakfast was cold and over cooked even after sending it back it was bad .Considering the kitchen is right next to the dining room we could not understand why they were making such a mess of it.The best thing after spending five weeks traveling around South East Asia was the bed, it was the most comfortable sleep we had with the best pillows we have ever slept on.We would always go back to the Shangri la but please sort the breakfast out.Another small thing, the Kungthep wing is supposed to be a bit special so why on earth is instant coffee still being used in the rooms. Please please install a Nespesso machine.

We booked 3 night stay and asked to be upgraded so we could access the lounge. We got upgraded AND a suite!!! AND the third night for free.
It was fantastic and they treated us like royal. We got amazing service and restaurant tips from concierge
It's our third stay at shangri-la We will always stay here!

Stayed at this hotel for a business conference! The staff was VERY friendly!

I really enjoyed the health club! The yoga and Thai boxing instructors were amazing! Definitely worth the value.

The hotel is very close to the sky train and boat taxis as well! Makes getting around fairly easy, plus taxis and tuk tuks are always available.

The only problem I had was internet! I took a few minutes to connect and I kept being knocked off. Kinda frustrating.

Unfortunately, we only had two days here. Beautiful staff, lovely room and the hotel decor is stunning. we had a balcony room overlooking the river with stunning views, noise not a problem as double glazing was good. Traditional flowers on arrival and fruit in the room. not a special visit but they made it special x. Free shuttle to downtown market that goes backwards and forwards every do hour from the hotel jetty. can't do enough for you from arrival to departure. Even rang the taxi to organise a later pick up time as they said it was too long for us to wait around the other end. What food we had was very good especially the breakfast but afternoon tea was minimal maybe a few more sandwiches would be good. We ate out at is was very easy and reasonably cheap.

Excellent hotel, excellent food and service, free shuttle services along the river. The hotel is located right next to the train station which allows transfer to most attractions. Hotel quite isolated in terms of tour options in the surrounding streets.
