“fantastic hotel.”

i have stayed at some of the best hotels in Bangkok and this is by far my favorite place to stay on the river. While other hotels value service that is ever-present (but in the background which seems a bit sterile at times) this hotel offers service with a friendly and personable touch. the balcony rooms with views overlooking the river are worth the extra expense and proved to be the most relaxing part of our stay in bangkok. Rooms were spacious, Amenities were abundant, food was excellent and the hotel offered a variety of impressive food options. The most surprising was the deck bar and restaurant, "next 2" by the river which had delicious and relatively inexpensive thai food and great drinks. the gym was perfect for a quick workout before dinner, and the pool was relaxing and tranquil. The grounds are spacious and offer a resort feel and the services provided give you a lot of options to consider when planning your activities in bangkok. We use it as a jet lag recovery hotel upon arrival after a long flight as the beds are comfortable and spending a day by the pool and enjoying the restaurants is a great way to gear up for an exciting adventure in the city.

Room Tip: spend an extra 1000 Bhat each night for the balcony rooms overlooking the river. Its an exciting v...

A very warm and welcoming experience from the moment arrived at the grand entrance, welcoming speech like "sawadee kap" makes me feel like home. A very attentive check in staff, to housekeeping staff as well. I noticed that my room is well turned down with slipper on the side of the bed and dimmer lighting. It is awesome relax experience after a tired day. And thank you for the very attentive staff (she is Chinese Thai) in Shang palace. Best sweet and sour chicken & pork ever!

Hope to see you guys again :)

We have been comming to the Shangri la Kung Thep Wing for the past 16 years and we wish we could come more often in one year. It's like comming home only better. The staff are great and the hotel has everything one could wish for. It's not cheap but worth very penny (Euro). We can't wait to come back

Room Tip: The main building is super as are the Horizon floors but the Kung Thep Wing is a world to itself.

We stayed at the Shangi-La after 10 days of low-budget B and Bs/hotels. The rooms are fabulous with amazing views of the city. We were on a floor which offered appetizers at tea time and they were delicious. My only caveat would be to avoid the yoga class... Worth a spluge!

Stayed here for one night at the end of a Thai holiday to catch an early morning flight. Service standards are very high. The check-in staff escort you to your room; concierge desk extremely helpful. The location on the riverfront is superb. Having an early evening drink at the river front bar (bar is an understatement; this is a big area) and watching the boats go by was very relaxing. Didn't experience the breakfast as our plane was too early, so can't comment. Rooms were quality; bed comfortable. Booked a river view room. Would highly recommend this. Great vista up the river, especially at night.
Would stay here again -Yes.

Room Tip: Highly recommend a river view room.

Well positioned for public transport and taxis. Large well appointed rooms, great service and also a very impressive gym. Fantastic river views from rooms as well. I stayed in the "normal" rooms rather then the attached tower and rooms were fine. Good Thai restaurant as well.

Highly recommended.

Recently spend a few days in Bangkok and had choose the Shangri-La due to its great location at the river. Provides easy access to the water taxis and the metro and therefore allows easy travel throughout Bangkok without having to use taxis and get stuck in traffic.
Hotel has a nice main restaurant which provides an amazing breakfast buffet, seating inside or outside with river view is possible. Dinner buffet if very good, too.
Pool area is very nice with bot some good sunny spots as well as a lot of shade.
Staff is very nice, helpful and supportive across the hotel.

Room Tip: Shangri-La has 2 towers, the Shangri-La hotel tower provides some cheaper rooms which we choose, and...
