We spent 3 nights at this hotel and had a wonderful view of the river and pool on the 14th floor. Great location with 5 minutes walk to ferry and skytrain, which means you can get anywhere reasonably quickly. Hotel was expensive to eat in so would recommend you eat elsewhere, we actually ate breakfast at McDonalds as it was just 5 minutes away and was about £2 and quick, we also knew what we were eating.

There was happy hour in lounge bar 5-8pm which was fine. Pool area lovely and first day had free water and lavender smelling flannel. Nearby to the hotel are several massage places all extremely cheap, we visited them twice and for around £8-£10 you get a wonderful hour long massage, it is no frills but very good and well worth doing. Also had a very good pedicure too.

Visited all the main attractions, Ladyboys Calypso show at asia hotel was an experience, Damnoen floating market was fantastic
and Elephant Village (well worth the hour long taxi ride). Chatuchak weekend market is a must and always barter to half the price it starts at, amazing stuff and so cheap. This you can get to by using the skytrain takes about half an hour but well worth going,

The royal palace, wot pho temple and wat arun are all unmissable. Make sure you know how the fag system on the ferries work.

At the end of a 12 night holiday in Thailand we treated ourselves to our final night in the Krungthep Wing. The hotel lived up to my expectations and was beautiful - just stunning. The staff were super friendly. We didn't have a lot of time here but managed to eat in the Salathip restaurant which was excellent and we were on the terrace overlooking the river which was amazing. The pool areas are lovely and the service by the pool was out of this world! We had breakfast in our room - well on our balcony again over looking the river - amazing breakfast and amazing views! The room was beautiful and the turn down service wonderful. It was my birthday during my holiday and in our room was the most delicious chocolate cake! The bathroom was enormous! Can't fault this hotel - excellent 5 star hotel and easy access from the Sky Train.

We stayed for 4 nights on 2 occasions during November and we were fortunate enough to stay in both the Shangri La wing and the Krungthep wing of the hotel. Both rooms were superb and the service was exceptional. We stayed in a balcony room at the Shangri La wing with a view of the Chao Phraya and because it is further away from a busy road, there is less road noise than the Krungthep. Also, because it has recently been refurbished, the room was just as good. The service in both wings was truly exceptional but where the Krungthep scores heavily is in the complimentary cocktail hour.............very civilised. The location is also superb in that both the Skytrain station and the river pier are right next door to the hotel

Even though the hotel has a great location, I was not impressed by the value, rooms, or service. Bangkok is such a wonderful city with great hotels I will recommend the Banyon Tree or State Towers over this hotel.

Shangri la is a luxurious hotel that pampers their guests. Everyone there can’t wait to help you with everything you might need during your stay. We flew in to Bangkok about 3 am, having just been traveling for 14 hours and having gotten married the night before we were exhausted. We’d asked the hotel so send a car in our correspondence so we did have to search one out. Knowing it was our honey moon they sent a limo! The driver was waiting outside of customs with a sign and it was breeze to get there and get to sleep. We had included the breakfast with our package and I highly recommend it. It was probably one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve ever had. They had so much variety of delicious food we had something different everyday for breakfast. This is Perfect if you’re planning on doing a lot of sightseeing and don’t want to stop for lunch. However be careful, if you like mimosas make sure you get a Champagne list I initially told the server whatever and ended up with delicious but extremely expensive mimosas. The pool is beautiful, but they don’t tell you about the little red flag attached to your umbrella we thought we we’re being ignored for about a half hour until another guest over heard our complaints and pointed out the flag. Also no booze is allowed in the pool, fyi. Other than those minor things great place to stay I will definitely stay at the Shangri La franchise in the future!

We stayed in the Krungthep Wing for 5 nights in October. The hotel beat my expectations in every way.
The Krungthep Wing offers a number of perks such as a cocktails hour, private pool, afternoon tea plus many more. The complimentary cocktail hour is exceptional (5:30pm – 7:30pm each evening) with a choice of wine, beer and cocktails and excellent canapés. The afternoon tea is also extremely good with many cakes, fresh baked scones and sandwiches.
All staff were so friendly and helpful especially our Butler Nancy.
The pool areas are lovely and there are plenty of sun lounger's with very attentive pool staff.
The Horizon II dinner cruise was one of the best nights we had in Bangkok. The views and the buffet dinner were exceptional.
Will definitely return to this hotel.
