We were very pleased with our choice of this hotel. It was very lovely and clean. We had a balcony room and we think it was well worth the upgrade. The staff was very professional and very friendly. The lobby areas was very nice and the pool was beautiful. The breakfast buffet was out of this world with so many choices. We took the transportation package from the airport to the hotel. Well worth the extra money. It was a 5 minute walk to the ferry or the skytrain.

We booked a guide ahead of time. We used Dang to tour the city. She works for Tour with Tong. (tourwithtong@yahoo.com). Tong is hard to get a hold of, but keep trying. Dang does a great job with the english language. She showed us everything we wanted to see in Bangkok. We did everything by public transportation-taxi, skytrain and ferry. She was very knowledgeable about the sights and also has a great personality and was on time all 3 days.

Had two nights here during three weeks in Thailand.
Very nice room, worth paying for river view.
Lobby etc, pool, and hotel in general very good.
We ate both nights at Italian restaurant. Excellent food, and the Italian born chef came to our table to ensure our satisfaction, a nice touch.
Hotel expensive for Thailand, but reasonable by western standards.
Cannot fault hotel, but does not quite have the wow factor we were looking for.

Stayed at Shangri La hotel for 2 weeks in one of their suites.
The stay there will be in our memory always.
Beautiful spacious luxury that was made even more impressive by the wonderful staff.
Cant remember their names, but one of the managers in particular, a tall lady with short hair was just beautiful, and did her best to make our stay perfect. Always had a great smile!
And one of the pool waiters went out of his way to make sure we had all we wanted!
The pool, gym, room service, breakfasts were all just absolutely awesome!
The location on the river was also lovely! Fantastic views from our balcony!
Department store and restaurants just outside the hotel. Train station and ferry just outside also!
On our departure we had a late flight out and it was no problem to let us have a late check out!
Love to stay at this hotel again soon! Thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Shangri La.

My husband and I started our 3 week trip through Asia at the Shangri-la in Bangkok. It underwent a huge renovation a few years ago and it shows! Very beautiful decor, great service and a yummy breakfast buffet (although not included in room price). The location is great-it's one block from the skytrain and the tourist ferry which takes you on a tour of the Chao Praya river, where many of the best wats (temples) and palaces are. Highly recommend and worth the price.

We spent three nights in the last week in the Krungthep wing escape package at the Shangri La Hotel in Bangkok and I would recommend it highly.
We arrived off an intercontinental flight and were welcomed so warmly by our butler Helen. Our room was beautiful and really comfortable. Great beds, linens and pillows. I loved our view of the river.
The Krungthep wing escape package is very interesting and I learned about it and made my choice because of what I read on Trip Advisor. The package included our room, butler service, internet, breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails and even a drink in your room for later. It is in a separate part of the hotel with it's own entrance, lobby and pool but has access to all of the other parts of the hotel, a larger pool and restaurants , bar and spa. i also enjoyed the spa and had a wonderful treatment there. I would recommend this package and found it a great way to acclimatize after a long trip as I was on my way to Railei Beach Club which I also love. I would look forward to going back there. The concierge, Adifon was most helpful in sorting out a problem that I had with my airline tickets

Wonderful rooms, great staff and excellent buffet breakfast. We had three days here and it lived up to the expectation...s if you can get the river view rooms well worth it :)

Yes the food and drink is pricey but the hotel is very central so its your choice... tip go a la carte rather than the set menu in the hotels thai rrestraunt - yes its more expensive but we though better than the set menu.

On our holidays in Thailand we have been five nights in Bangkok. We have been chosen the Shangri-La because of the good reviews and the location. And everything wasn’t less than perfect. What a fantastic hotel. We had a balcony room in the Shangri-La Wing. This wing was newly decorated in the last two years and they had just finished work. The room was spacious and the view over the river was breathtaking. You can sit there for hours and watch the hustle and bustle. Breakfast was also amazing. And in the nights it was wonderful to sit in the amazing lobby bar, have a cocktail and listening to the music (a singer with a live band). The staff was also great, they did everything do let you feel comfortable. And all of them had a very classy style. To drive around in Bangkok you have everything nearby. The next skytrain station is only five minutes away and so is the boat station. So you can reach everything in a reasonable time. For us it is very hard to imagine that a hotel can be better than the Shangri-La. We would stay there at any time again.
