4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2010

My first trip to BKK was great! The hotel looks good, services given were great and the staff was so friendly and accomodating. The place is very near the shopping stalls! Very sinful! I will be back in August 2010!

The Indra is not the flashest hotel but its location is the main attraction being close to markets, shopping centres & "99 Massage" where one can get the best foot massages. The rooms are clean & the house-keeping staff are great (please remember to leave them a tip - they deserve it!). The concierge & front desk staff are very friendly but give the hotel car drivers a miss as it is cheaper to get a metered taxi. The Indra also houses a post office agency which is so handy when you need to post home a box or two after the shopping expeditions get out of control! The lady in the PO has been there for years and is very helpful. The in-house bar is a disappointment as it is quite expensive and thus, is usually empty. The Indra doesn't pretend to be a 5 star hotel but we like it enough to come back to time after time.

One of the older hotels in the city (about 40 years old), but it is well-kept. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. Sheets and towels were clean as well! Water pressure in the shower was perfect and there was both hot and cold water. We were in a smoking room and amazingly enough the smell of smoke wasn't that bad - really good exhaust I guess? We were on the 11th floor and had the view of the city sky scrapers. TV with some channels but no HBO or Star Movies and the MTV channel was in Chinese most of the time - then again we weren't there for the tv! There's a hot water pot too with complimentary coffee, tea and water. Right across the street from the hotel is a 7-11 and right next door is a McDonald's. The hotel is part of the Indra shopping center which was very convenient (there's a KFC and McDonald's). Right across the street is Pratunam Market and very nearby is Platinum Mall. You can also walk (10-15mins) to Central World Plaza and a 10 min cab ride takes you to Chatuchak Weekend Market. Concierge was helpful when I asked to them to write directions in Thai in case we needed to show the cab/tuktuk drivers. Breakfast was great but after being there for 4days it became a little repetitive. Over all, good and comfortable hotel with a great location. Would recommend for its cleanliness!

The Indra is on the face of it a nice hotel. However the rooms are stuffy with barely adequate aircon, made worse by the fact that the windows won't open in the rooms. God help you if there was a fire.
However,Bangkok is an amazing city. Awash with street markets and tuk-tuks and bustling 24 hours a day, it provides for a thorougly interesting and diverse holiday that has something for everyone. Eating out is relatively cheap especially if it's just lunch you want, as MBK and Platinum Mall both have huge eating areas that serve only the freshest produce! You'll obviously pay more at a restaurant in the evening but that's to be expected. The city was in the final stages of building the Sky Train link to the Airport, which when finished will no doubt be the only way to get to the city as all the cab firms will be bankrupted by it!
We totally recommend it, even if it was solely for the foot massages which cost about the same as a pint of beer in the uk.

Good basic hotel in a very good area for shopping ,market is just outside and easy to catch transport outside the hotel. No need to use the Hotel drivers as they are a lot more expensive than the normal taxis.Breakfast is poor quality and not worth the extra money ,would suggest that its best to go eat out or walk up to other hotels and have the breakfast there. So if you are looking for a 3 star good stay this is a very good place .if you are seeking some luxury this isnt the place for you.

Rooms cleaned daily and never had anything gone missing, even left money in safe once when checking out and they let me know. Ask to stay on 'pool side' much quieter than 'road side' as traffic noise starts up from 4am-1am. Don't order room service menu, too expensive and unedible. Good commercial hotel but I miss friendliness of smaller hotels, after 12 visits they ask me every time 'have you stayed with us before'?

The 3rd time we have stayed here for up to a week and will go back. It is not 5 star but clean, good size rooms and central to near everything. Taxi's at the front door. Plenty of assorted markets and shopping within easy walking distance. Trains not far away. a number of good cafes or restaurants close handy. We love Thailand and the Thai people.
