The Manhattan Sukhumvit Bangkok
Ranked #444 of 889 Hotels in Bangkok
Reviewed 16 July 2014

The bed was so good. The WC was not as good as the room but still very acceptable.
Great breakfast, staff was also very helpful and friendly.
Great location in Sukhumvit Rd, close to bars, restaurants, street food, shooping malls, markets, etc.

If you want to be close to public transport and shopping then Hotel Manhattan is ideal. The hotel is clean and well maintained. It is in the ideal position to overnight and shop in Bangkok. For the price you pay the breakfast is good and the friendly service is excellent. The rooms have everything you need. I had an excellent rest after a very long flight and began my Thai travels the next day feeling refreshed.

This hotel is well situated close to Sukhumvit Rd, but far enough away to be a little quieter. However bars, cafes, convenience store (7/11), street hawkers, (and all the chaotic life of Bangkok etc.) within a minutes walk. Its quite an old hotel and a bit dated, but as long as the price reflects that it can be good value. A short walk to public transport, and a multiplicity of restaurants, including some good Korean ones across Sukhumvit Rd. at the Korean cultural centre. A perfectly adequate if rather standard breakfast. The room was a reasonable size, clean, reasonable wifi (and I was at one end of the hotel), standard safe, reasonable number of power sockets, tea and coffee making facilities etc.. Hotel has a swimming pool, two restaurants, cafe/bar and a spa. Not tried any of these.

After staying on the other end of the city we changed to this hotel on 24 th May and stayed for 3 days. This hotel is very close to 2 metro stations nana and asok. Close to all shopping malls. Hotel is a old one but well maintained. Rooms are clean. Breakfst is ok. Staff are good. They allowed us to stay after check out upto 5 pm. Thank you Manhattan next time also I will stay with you. My only complaint is air con are to be replaced. They have become old and they are not effective in summer.

Wife and I stayed at this Hotel for 7 Nights last Month, Should only rate half a Star. First Breakfast was terrible, all cold, heat under bowls to low and no covers on top to keep any heat in.Before I have always said that people that complain about no selection at breakfast were expecting toooo much. Well now after many frequent breakfasts in Asia over the years I can see what they are saying .
Swimming pool dangerous, especially for children, cracked and broken tiles at bottom of pool very easy to cut your foot on sharp edges, handyman could fix this in a hour, no pool attendant, no drinks or food available at pool. The thing that is most dangerous and this comment is coming from an Ex Fireman.
There are no smoke detectors in the rooms, no sprinklers, this goes also for the passageways, and there are NO fire alarms in the passages, so there is no way of warning guests of a fire. We would not have stayed 7 days but we had paid in advance. One other thing was we had two drinks out of the Mini bar and it took 5 days to replace them.
My way of recommending it is, that it is a half star trying to be a four star and would you believe it but our son arrived two days before us and having looked at our room he decided to upgrade us at his expense. Thank goodness for that.

I have been a regular visitor to this hotel during my business trips to Thailand. The hotel is in the heart of Sukhumvit and very well connected.

The BTS station Nana and Asok are just walking distance which makes it easy to commute from Airport. MBK mall and various other shopping are easily accessible through the BTS from the hotel.

Many Indian & Western restaurants are also very near to the Hotel. You can also try the local thai food on the street which is very delicious.

Rooms are spacious and clean and the room service staff ensure that the rooms are cleaned on daily basis. Bathroom is also very well maintained.

Supermarkets like Robinsons, Tops & retail stores like 7 Eleven are within the close proximity to the hotel.

For those looking for entertainment, Soi Cowboy is just walking distance from the hotel.

The breakfast spread is very good and delicious.

Overall a value for money option in Bangkok.

Very clean rooms with excellent wi if connection. Centrally located, just off the main Sukhamvit main road. Well connected by Skytrain which is 5 mts away from the hotel. Close to great shopping malls like Robinsons and Terminal 21. 10 mts away to the Arabic Square if you care to have an authentic Arabic cuisine.

Hotel staff are helpful, travel desk is well equipped with a variety of tours to suit your timing and pocket. Rooms are clean, very quiet and AC surprisingly ok by Bangkok standards. Buffet breakfast is good, but if you are staying for a couple of days, you will soon get bored of the same fare being served everyday.

Coffee and Tea maker is provided with unlimited refills, 2 bottles of water provided everyday. Towels look antique and probably needs replacement. No easy chair / sofa provided in the room. instead, an office type of chair is provided which needs to be replaced.

Over all, my experience at the hotel was good, staff helpful and very courteous. Would probably prefer to come back to this hotel..

Room Tip: Chose rooms on the East side of the hotel.
