“this boutique hotel is a Bangkok Oasis”
Reviewed 20 January 2013

We had the best experience at this hotel. We were whisked from the airport to the lovely, clean, accomodating and gorgeous Cabochon. It feels like a secret from the rest of the world. We had a great nights sleep in our clean and comfortable room. The shower has great water pressure! Another bonus is the bank at the end of the driveway where we got our bhat.
Each morning we started with a nice breakfast in the fantastic dining room, and then went out to explore dirty, busy, crazy, wonderful Bangkok. The location of this hotel put us right in the heart of the action, close to BTS station Thong Lo. There's also a great night market on the opposite side of the street (and slightly east). Coming back to this clean, safe, quiet haven at the end of each crazy day was a blessing. The staff was absolutely gracious and attentive. We will certainly visit again.

Room Tip: I doubt there's a bad room!

There aren't too many colonial style hotels that deliver. This one does.

The rooms are beautiful and the hotel is priced at half the cost it should.

Very special hotel experience in Bangkok.

Great location. It is nice to to stay somewhere that is able to offer more than a boring hotel room.

Highly recommend this hotel as an alternative to the sterile hotel experience.

An absolute gem of a find. The staff could not be more gracious and accommodating. The rooms are impeccable and the common areas albeit limited are absolutely lovely. It is clear no expense was spared in the renovation and decoration of this property. The bonus is the rooftop pool. Floating in the pool and watching the night lights of Bangkok come on around you is a magical feeling.

There seem to be two types of rooms; suites and standard rooms. The price for this level of quality was great - but the rooms were rather small. Thank Manhattan small. Tough to complain though given all the other pluses. Interesting to note the two top levels of this property seem to be occupied by private tenants. Not an issue what so ever, but found it curious. Actually I was a bit jealous.

The hotel is located close to the SkyTrain and just down the alley from a wonderful cosmopolitan bistro called Quince. Great cocktails and a solid menu of Mediterranean style options.

We had enjoyed a dinner at Thai Lao Yeh during a previous visit to Bangkok, and since we loved the neighbourhood (and the food) decided to stay at the Cabochon on our next trip. Reservations were a breeze -- we were responded to within hours -- and our stay did not disappoint. Staff are understated and professional, which is a plus in such a small hotel. Our room, the smallest with a Queen sized bed, was on the small side -- we would likely spend the extra for suite the next time. The bathroom, with polished black marble floors and phenomenal water pressure in the shower, was stylish, but would have benefitted from just a tiny bit of space to put toiletries.

The breakfast was simple yet tasty, with Thai congee, fruit, and quality continental baked goods, decent filter coffee, and fresh orange juice. Tea time featured excellent Thai snacks, and Thai Lao Yeh has got to be one of the best places in Bangkok to get Isaan food. The rooftop pool is a real highlight -- a lap pool with a view of the Skytrain and all the busy-ness of Bangkok within view.

Most of all, the neighbourhood is great. Walkable from either two skytrain stations, there was lots to explore nearby with no need to go more into shopping mall-land. The soi is surprisingly quiet, making it a restful spot at the end of the day.

Room Tip: Aim for a suite to have a bit more space -- queen rooms are definitely on the small side.

Boutique hotel located at the end of a small private road with walking distance to the sky train and great bar called Quince
Personable welcoming staff with comfortable rooms and an outstanding Thai restaurant
Changes I would suggest are to remove some furniture from the breakfast lounge and make better use of the library and bar area. The breakfast was poor and should be served with an egg chef and hot food in the restaurant area
Having now been to Bangkok I would stay by the River

Room Tip: Choose a suite

If you are looking for a serene and elegant place to enjoy your stay in Bangkok, do not look any farther. Cabochon is offering a great atmosphere, dedicated service, energy boosting breakfast and amazing dining menu n facilities. So far away from the usual noisy city and yet just a stone throw from Sukhumvit on soi 45. Rooms are spacy and the 22m lap pool on the roof top makes Cabochon a boutique hotel you are eager to visit again.

This small, elegant hotel provided everything I required at the end of a hectic trip in S.E Asia. Unfortunately I was only able to spend three nights here... it's the sort of place I could happily settle into for a much longer period of time. The original colonial house has been converted beautifully into a peaceful sanctuary of charm and great style just steps away from Sukhumvit Road and the Skytrain. I particularly enjoyed my comfortable room with it's french doors leading onto a private black and white tiled balcony. The decor is stunning and stylish and great attention has been paid to detail. The staff are gracious, charming and kind and helped ensure my stay was a pleasure. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Bangkok and will definitely return to this hotel.
