Reviewed 4 August 2014 via mobile

Currently staying at the Riva Surya and am finding it the perfect place to stay in the hustle, bustle and heat of Bangkok. The rooms are of a high standard. River view room with a balcony especially. The food is also of a good standard even if a little expensive. Breakfast provides excellent variety. Pool area is chilled and needed after a hot day sightseeing. A stones throw from the nightlife of Khoa San road and a little walk to the Grand Palace and Wat Po (must see places to visit!) off for a chilled beer at the bar!
You will enjoy!

The Riva Surya has become our favourite boutique hotel in Bangkok - chosen originally last year for its proximity to the Grand Palace and the Khao San Road and the view over the river, we returned this time to find that K. Wit and the team remembered us and were even more friendly and welcoming than before. Calming neutral decor in a pleasing mix of modern and Thai traditional styles, wonderfully evocative floral decorations, cooling fresh drink on arrival, all staff smiling, chatty, helpful with every small detail, beds supremely comfortable. K. Wit highly knowledgeable about all the attractions on offer, ready to provide advice on which is good value and suitable for your family. Breakfast is a feast, with a variety of Western and Asian buffet items, plus omelettes etc to order. Oh, and the masseur is the best I have experienced snce my first visit to Thailand 25 years ago!

Room Tip: We had the most basic room and it was very comfortable and quite large, with a huge super-king size...

Great location! Near a market, The Grand Palace, and Kao San Road (if the night scene interests you). The staff was very accommodating and helpful, super nice. The atmosphere at the hotel was great--beautiful pool/ lounge/ bar/ restaurant area where you have a great view of the boats. Can relax, play the various games offered, get a massage, or sip on some cocktails.

Beautiful boutique hotel in a prime location, only less than 10 mins walk to Khao San Road and other major historic tourist attractions. We had a Deluxe room with balcony overlooking the Chao Praya river which was worth the extra money spending. I would give it a 5 star rating only if the complimentary breakfast offers a hot buffet as well. As I am a regular visitor to Bangkok, I was well disappointed as most 4-5 star hotels usually offer a pretty good range of breakfast including hot and continental items. The hotel offers a very basic range of continental breakfast, and cooked breakfast is only available on Ala carte menu. Only if I was aware of this info before I booked, I would have gone with the room only rate and would just go out to enjoy all those street food available in every corner of Bangkok.
All staff are very polite and friendly, efficient service but ye not intrusive. I do think the staff really makes the hotel. Thank you all staff and especially Khun Plaa at the front desk for your excellent service and also the security guard in the front (one with a little pony tail, didn't know his name).
All in all it was a great stay in my all time favourite city, Bangkok, we will definitely be back for our next visit!

We came to Bangkok from a 21 hours flight and just wanted to relax for a couple of days with lazy activities. Yes it might be a little more expensive then other hotels but it gave us exactly what we needed for 2 jet-lag Montrealers. Excellent service, excellent food, (with some cheap options everyday), superb rooms with nice views on the chao praya river, helpful staff actually wanting to know what you did during your day and letting you know where to go next. The backpackers street 2 minutes away with plenty of Thai restaurants and bars that gave us a glimpse of Bangkok at night. Access within 1 minute walk to the express boat pier to lots of main attractions and Skytrain ( We used the express boat every day)
A very good hotel from the minute you step in (when they welcome you with a cold tea and cold water towel to when you leave the hotel. (fast checkout/check-in)

This hotel is located on Phra Arthit Road, A quieter and more authentic area close to the popular tourist/backpacker hub of Khao San Road. I heard about it whilst reading the official Bankok website.

Firstly, I loved the location. I took a backstreet almost directly outside of the hotel and I was in the thick of all the main tourist restaurants and busy action of Rambuttri & Khao San. There were also plenty of authentic restaurants and bars that were located on Phra Arthit Road that were mostly occupied by Thai people, and looked great. The hotel runs parallel with the river, there is also a nice park close by that I walked through, and the Grand Palace is within walking distance (or quick Tuk Tuk).

The hotel itself was a dream from start to finish. As I am travelling for an extended period, this was a lot more expensive than my usual budget at around 4300 baht per night, but I wanted a nice break, and I certainly did not regret staying here!. The staff were extremely polite and welcoming and went out of their way to make me feel special. The design of the hotel, from lobby, to the outside pool area, to the room was wonderfully elegant and the embodiment of class. My hotel room overlooked the river, which when I sat out on the balcony in the evening and watched the boats go by was a great experience.

I stayed here for one night, it was my most expensive night in Bangkok, but it was by far the most comfortable and enjoyable nights sleep I have had for a long time, and compared to some other luxury hotels I think it's also great value for money, especially with it's fabulous river setting and location.

You won't regret staying here.

We spent 3 days in this hotel and our experience was really good. The hotel is new so everything work well. Friendly staff, good buffet for the breakfast, central location to discover the city like the great palace for exemple, confortable and nice room... particulary if you have a view on the river. We spent a lot of time around the swimming pool because we already knew pretty well bangkok city. To build a swimming pool just behind the river was a great idea. You can relex yourself on a long-chair between two different kind of water!
Why give I not the 5 "five stars" for this place? Because it's really to expansive. You pay the same price for this kind of room on this hotel than in my country for the same quality hotels. But we are in bangkok not in western europe. So for Bangkok, it's really expensive!

Room Tip: The rooms with the view on the river are really nice!
