I’ve been to Wat Alun a few times, but not in the past 15 years. I returned with my teenage sons for a short transit visit in Thailand and this was one of the 4 places I decided to visit. (The others were the Grand Palace, Temple of the Reclining Buddha, and Temple of the Emerald Buddha). I’m glad I did. The crowds are definitely thicker, making the experience less peaceful, but this is still an impressive sight. There were misters to help with the heat— much appreciated.

A must see attraction in Bangkok. Very beautiful. After the major renovation, it is timeless. No parking.

I had been to Bangkok before but had missed to visit this place due to paucity of time so this was the first stop for me in this trip. I was staying in Grand Sukhumvit Hotel in the heart of Bangkok and it took me about 250 Baht to reach the ferry point from where to cross over to the temple. A short 5 minute ferry ride takes you across the bank of the river to witness the War Arun in all its glory. The best time to visit would be evening since you can get a glimpse of its beautiful structure and details in daylight as well as when it is lit up artificially after sunset.

Despite this being something like our 10th time to Bangkok we’ve never quite had the time or inclination to visit some of the city temples until now. But we braved the heat and explored this and Wat Pho and absolutely couldn’t believe we’d waited this long. Catch the 4 baht ferry from near Wat Pho (its near a food market area) and its a quick 5 minutes across. Wear appropriate clothing (shoulders, knees covered).

Absolutely stunning!! Such a beautiful temple with a more than reasonable entry price 50thb(£1.25) per person. Modest dress code as shoulders need to be covered and ladies cover their legs
