“MODE amidst "Muerng" ...”
Reviewed 5 December 2013 via mobile

.. meaning it was right at the heart of the city centre. That's where this 201-room hotel was. conveniently accessible by both the sky train and by car (well, only if the traffic allows)

MODE was 7-8 months old only. Pretty new, but experienced service.

Actually at the first glance the exterior looked a bit weird having bright purple paint everywhere. But we were told that purple and also pink reflect their "lady" hotel concept. Mmm ... interesting.

We had our late lunch at their Rice & Chilli, Thai dining outlet on the 5th Floor. Quite unexpected!

Most of the times, what turned out from the so-called "contemporary" or "fusion" was more of "con"fusion or a bit disappointing. But all the dishes we ordered were not only nicely decorated but delicious, said by a Thai, though. Farang or foreigners might find it a bit spicy, but worth trying to burn their tongues for. ^_^

Good thing doesn't come cheap. But a few hundreds baht per dish weren't that bad, considering quality. Every dish was surely reflecting great effort of the chef.

All tables were by the window facing good view of Sathorn road and the skytrain.

It's opened til late too, maybe around 11pm.. Perfect for all workaholics (like us) who always left the office no earlier than 8pm..

Nice hotel with pretty views of the city. Bed was really comfortable and staff was friendly. However, in an effort to be so modern, the rooms really lacked functionality. One main issue was there was a view of the toilet from every part of the room. The shower had a clear wall that looked over the toilet and the sliding door to the bathroom was frosted glass but also easy to see through. Also, lighting in the bathroom was very dim when trying to apply make up. Location was very close to BTS but not to any of the sights of the city. A couple of restaurants were located within walking distance as food in the hotel is expensive. Went to the wine restaurant in the hotel one night, which played light jazz music, but the house club music in the next room was blaring. Overall, just a bizarre hotel. Even though I got a good night's sleep there, I would probably look for somewhere else to stay on next visit to Bangkok.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Mode back in September and quite frankly it was the best place I have ever stayed in my life. Now where do I start?
We stayed for 2 nights and it was not long enough, the service was second to none from the minute we stepped out of our taxi and of course the views were to die for. The food in rice and chilli restaurant was exquisite and I would highly recommend the lobster (so good). Then we went to the theatre bar and got our complimentary drinks which was a gesture. Hotel was very clean and I got lost in the bed a few times.
The pool was lovely and refreshing in the warm temperature.

Please make sure to visit the blue elephant across the road. It is a culinary experience not to be missed!

Peace out Brah!

Room Tip: Room service is dear but worth it!

We stayed at the Mode Hotel for 5 nights. The hotel was new and I have to say really enjoyed the stay. The room was an executive room which we stayed in, the room itself had a really comfortable bed, great views and also a modern bathroom with shower and bath.
It also had a separate toilet and wardrobe.
The breakfast was an extensive range, with a chef who cooked eggs, pancakes etc, when we stayed it wasn't that busy. The hotel was situated opposite Surasak skytrain so you have easy access to all of the attractions. Also opposite the hotel is the Blue Elephant restaurant which maybe on the expensive side but well worth at least one visit as the food is amazing.
I found the staff to be really friendly always acknowledged when I walked past reception.
The only issue I had was housekeeping, despite them doing an excellent job in the upkeep of the room, they attended to my room around 4pm - 5pm, which was annoying as I had returned from a day out only to find housekeeping in the room. The in room directory stated if you wanted the room cleaned at a specific time then to make the request through reception, this I did however it never happened, which was disappointing however overall a really nice hotel, with friendly staff.

The staff is very friendly and helpfull! Thank you for the great experience and see you in a month!

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, perfect location, friendly staff and the most comfortable beds you could ever wish for. The hotel was clean and modern, bedding was spotless. We had executive rooms so had drinks and nibbles between 6 and 8pm, staff were attentive. Breakfast had a good selection, ladies if your arms are bare they will ask you to cover up during breakfast, we didn't eat there in the evening but would assume its the same thing then, they do provide blouses for you to use is you don't have anything with you. The pool area was very nice, very comfy furniture. We had a massage which was just so nice, would recommend it! We went to the thai boxing at Lumphini Park, the traffic was at a standstill so the hotel staff recommended we take the monorail, (right outside the hotel) and then go on the underground, was very easy to do and got there a lot quicker than if we had taken a taxi. Boxing was good, you can get drinks and food there as very reasonable. Should you go to the Grand Palace, again make sure your shoulders are covered, they won't let you in unless you have a tshirt on, a pashmina is not good enough, men in flip flops got in as long as they were wearing long trousers. Was very hot and very busy.
This hotel is cental to everything, Pat Pong market and Asiatique etc. I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Go for the executive rooms and benefits.
