“Good modern hotel, ticks most boxes”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

Mode Sathorn is a good choice if you want a modern mid-range hotel close to the sky train.

We were upgraded from a deluxe to executive room. The room was big, clean, modern and had a great view. The open shower is not well designed - water spills out into the bathroom and then needs to be mopped up.

Hotel restaurant looks great. The breakfast was fine without being fabulous and they know how to make a latte. Having been upgraded to an exec room, we assumed we had access to the exec lounge. It turns out there is no lounge, rather they serve drinks and snacks in the empty restaurant. It also turns out that you don't automatically receive this benefit if you are upgraded (odd as this is what happens at other hotels).

The pool is nice, good for lounging rather than swimming, but already starting to show signs of ageing with rusty and mouldy bits in places. Gym looked small but good by hotel standards.

Overall the hotel was fine. Not luxurious and not as good as their other hotel Siam at Siam, but good for the price. Staff were professional.

Room Tip: Exec rooms are big if you like your space. Higher the better for views and noise, particularly if on...

Very hip hotel. Conveniently located just right next to BTS Surasak Station. Booked the Deluxe Room, but they have upgraded my room to Executive Room upon my arrival at night. The Executive Room is very spacious, with a separate bathroom, toilet and dressing room. Please take note that the bathroom is quite open, only with purple-coloured glass partition, which means you will see your roommate when bathing. Therefore, only recommend it to couple/ family/ very close friend. Also, the downside is that the area for shower is too shallow and without a door/curtain. Therefore, you have to be very careful when you take a shower, otherwise water will spill out everywhere in the toilet.
Upon check in, they will give you complimentary drinks coupon, which you can redeem at The Sathorn (where will have breakfast), and BLD (Lobby lounge). You will also get a number of coupons, which you can redeem free appetizer/tapas/discount in their restaurants and bars.
Recommend to take a drink at their rooftop bar at 38/F. View is superb, though a bit close to residential buildings nearby. Free flow Happy Hour at 6-7pm every day. You can also enjoy “Buy 1 get 1 free” at 9:30pm till late on Sunday & Monday (as I remember).

Room Tip: Request for a high floor room if possible

1/3 of what you would pay for W Hotel nearby. No round the clock swimming pool but a 24 Hr gym like the W ( I was told there was one by the front desk). Genuinely friendly staff and above average bathroom amenities. I was there when the curfew was strictly enforced so the 30 second proximity from bts helps. Hotel made an effort to prolong the business hour of restaurants and bars till 2400 was a nice consolation to the wild Bangkok nightlife. I would definitely stay again the curfew is eventually off.

location : good
price : good
recommended? : yes

strategically located next to Surasak BTS and plenty of taxis to get you everywhere in town.
service is good.
room decor is fantastic. twin bed is huge for a boutique hotel.
the whole hotel is very with dim light so if you are not a huge fan of those then you might not like it. very modern.
one let down though is the pool is closed early at 7/8pm.

booked this for my mom to stay and she loved it.

Room Tip: ask for the one facing the main road :)

A very new and clean hotel which is literally next to the BTS Skytrain (Surasak Station).

The modern decor of the hotel may not be to everyone's taste, just look at photos on their website and decide for yourself. I found the rooms spacious with a very big bathroom. Had a rain shower and a nice bath tub by the windown with a great view, only thing is if you face the back, there will be an apartment block which can see inside your bathroom.

Hotel staff were all very nice. The rooftop bar on 38th Floor had good views. The small swimming pool on 11th Floor is not really for swimming laps but great for relaxing or having a drink, also with good views of the area. We also tried a massage at the Spa which was also quite good with 50% off promotion at the moment.

Because we were concerned about possible disruptions and traffic jams, we used the BTS Sky train exclusively on this trip, and this hotel was perfect for that. From the airport it took under an hour to get to the hotel. Just take the "City Link" to Phayathai station and then transfer to BTS Skytrain to Surasak Station. Just beware that with heavy luggage, you will have to carry it down some stairs at each station (all the escalators only go up).

Except for the Blue Elephant Thai restaurant across the road, there wasn't much within walking distance to the hotel. However, with the unrest in Bangkok, this hotel is located away from the normal protest areas but still only 4 BTS stops to Siam and Central world if you want to go in. The Sathorn Pier is only 1 BTS station away so getting to Asiatique Night Market is also very easy. And if Patpong is your scene, thats only 2 BTS stops away.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: High Floor. The rear facing rooms are quiet but also face an apartment building to the side.

Compare to it's 5 star neighbor hotel, which has it's advantage of direct link bridge from BTS, this hotel definitely has all it takes to be one of the best as well.

Spacious, modern and well decorated room. WiFi is strong and fast. I was greeted with a welcome drink and complimentary continental breakfast. Staffs are friendly and attentive. I just felt so welcoming every time i come back to this hotel. The hotel is not so busy during my stay, so I feel more privacy compare to it's neighbor hotel which I stayed before. For a little less you pay for this hotel, I think it's very worth it. Besides, this hotel is just located directly beneath the Surasak BTS station. Good if you lazy to walk a long way back to the hotel especially during the humid summer.

Regrettably the room doesn't has a Safety Box. And the bath tub is very close to the opposite condo. Otherwise it'd be just perfect. Would love to stay here again.
