We managed to get a fantastic deal on two nights at the Mode Sathorn Hotel, and we were utterly astonished at what we got for our money. We were greeted at the taxi by two wonderful members of staff who took our bags and had them delivered to our room. After an efficient check in we were taken up to our room on the 15th floor.

The room was lovely and spacious and was equipped with everything you could possibly need; the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, a huge TV, fridge, minibar, a beautiful stand alone bath and a great shower too! Both the bedroom and bathroom were gorgeously decorated and finished to a high standard - we honestly couldn't believe our luck! All of the towels and bed sheets are incredibly soft and the room also has twin air-conditioning (separate controls for bedroom and bathroom) and mood-lighting throughout.

There is also a spa, gym and outdoor swimming pool on the 11th floor. Although the pool isn't ideal for those wishing to swim lengths, it was still nice to be able to enjoy a gentle swim around and look out across Bangkok.

Although we weren't surprised, the only thing that let us down were the prices for food and drink in the hotel. Whilst I'm sure they are quite usual and reasonable for those who can afford to stay at the hotel for full price, we simply couldn't afford them and so I can't comment on the quality or service for the in-house bar and restaurant although if the service provided by all of the other staff is anything to go by I'm sure it is excellent! As we arrived late at the hotel we did take advantage of the room service. The food was very tasty and piping hot when it arrived at our door and the choice in the menu was fantastic, we were quite impressed!

Overall this is an outstanding hotel and for anyone wishing to experience a taste of luxury in Bangkok we would highly recommend the Mode Sathorn!

We stayed in 4 hotels during our multi-city trip, 2 hotels in Bangkok and this was certainly the best out of all of them.

We were lucky because we were given a room on a high floor with probably the best view of Bangkok. The view overlooked the BTS and the east of Bangkok.

The hotel was pure style and serenity. The bathtub is situated near a huge window overlooking Bangkok, with blinds (of course) for privacy when need be. Lots of windows in the room - making you feel like you're submerged in the city, with opaque blinds when you do need to escape it.

The pool view was outstanding and the complimentary continental breakfast (which wasn't stated anywhere during our booking process) was therefore a pleasant surprise, really handy and a nice little treat for us before we began our busy day ahead exploring Bangkok. The view from the top floor bar was also incredible, the cocktails were tasty and the atmosphere was stylish.

We really appreciated how alert the hotel were when replenishing things in our room like drinking water and toiletries - fresh ones everyday. The hotel is right near Surasak BTS station so it's absolutely perfect in terms of getting around Bangkok!

Had a good nights sleep every single night. Check-in and check-out was easy peasy. No long process when wanting to use the pool (like signing out towels etc.) none of that in this hotel. It was so easy to quickly jump in the pool whenever we felt like it.

The only negative thing I would say is that the toilet has a glass transparent door near the bedroom but I think this is the case for a lot of hotels in Bangkok. It didn't bother us too much, we were amazed by everything else.

Thank you Mode Sathorn for a brilliant experience and a very enjoyable stay. We hope to come back in future!

I stayed 4 nights at Mode Sathorn Hotel during a business trip in June 2014.
The hotel is modern and clean; my room was spacious and comfortable; the staff were friendly and helpful; the location - 30 meters to the escalator of Surasak BTS station on the Silom line - is very convenient; and the food in the restaurants are tasty. Couldn't ask for more.
Do not miss the open air rooftop bar on the 38th floor which offers lovely 360-degree views of the city. Should check it out even if you don't get a drink and sit down.
The hotel is located in the business district and not the shopping district, which is several BTS stops away. If you're in Bangkok to shop and eat and prefer everything to be within walking distance, the hussle and bustle of Siam and Sukhumvit might suit you better. But this hotel is great if you're in Bangkok for business.
My only complaint would be that the work desk is too narrow and the stool not very comfortable.
Because the hotel is very new, many taxi drivers do not know it, so it's a good idea to bring the hotel card out with you.

We agonised long and hard choosing our accommodation for Bangkok after staying in a fairly mediocre place in Phuket.  We wanted something modern and fresh with a pool and gym (but at a reasonable price) and were tossing up between a few places. We decided to give Mode Sathorn a go and we're really glad we did. We initially booked for 3 nights but ended up staying for 7.

We found the location to be quite good.  The Skytrain was literally out the front and as it is so cheap it was really easy to get around the city.  It wasn't close to any attractions or cafés and restaurants as such but we generally ate from the food court at the malls or from Vendors around the hotel before going back to the hotel. There is also a 7/11 about a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is on a busy street but you never hear the noise.  After we spent time travelling around the city we were happy we had chosen this location.  We thought that the area around the Grand Palace was quite seedy and depressing and the area close to the embassies a bit toffee nosed. We didn't check out Khao San Rd at all.

The hotel looks really modern and contemporary inside and out.  It is very dark inside, ie. dimly lit,  in the foyers, gym and all common areas.  The lights in the room were also fairly dull but we had big windows to let in. The bed was massive and probably a little firmer than I am used to but I slept like a log every night. It was clean, had a safe, robes, little fridge, big flatscreen TV, desk, free apples on occasions, tea and coffee, and funky electronic switches for lights and things.

When we first arrived we were disappointed with the staff and found them to be not very helpful.  While they were polite it appeared that they lacked direction, always seeking assistance from one another. They either need further training or more guidance from a manager in order to more confidently deal with issues that guests experience (little things like extending our stay). I had sent an email to the hotel asking if we could check in early because of our arrival time but received no response and then when we arrived we were told to come back at normal check in time.  The girl who initially served us didn't offer to store our bags, didn't offer a map and just left us standing there.  We had to prompt for each of these things. Whether this was because she is young and hasnt travelled herself to understand the needs of travellers or whether it was a language thing, I don't know but to me they are simple and  seem like obvious things to do for new and early arrivers.

We ate at the bakery/cafe on the ground floor on a couple of occasions and found the food tasty
but a little expensive and with small portions.  Drinks were really expensive, even more than typical western prices. We didn't eat at the other restaurants because they were also much more expensive than other places we frequented in Bangkok.

The pool was OK but fairly small and became shaded by the buildings surrounding it around midday. There was enough sun chairs for the amount of people there but because of the layout of the pool, only a few were in the sun.

The Gym was adequate for our needs with a couple of treadmills, bike, an elliptical trainer and some free weights. When we arrived some mornings to the gym it was hot but we phoned reception and they immediately put the air conditioning on.

We would definitely stay at Mode Sathorn again if we were to return to Bankgok, which is highly unlikely, but would definitely recommend it.

I stayed here last December for 2 nights. It was a lovely hotel, very well looked after and clean. The employees were friendly and very helpful. Many options around the area for dinner and drinks. and the rooftop pool is to die for. I would have went for a swim if the weather was a bit warmer. The room I stayed in was massive with comfy beds and a lovely view. Would be happy to stay there again.
