“Very impressive!”

Absolutely worth the travel! If you want to enjoy without pressure, reckon 4 to 5 hours in the museum!
We loved that you can go much closer to the exhibits than in Europe AND you are allowed to take pictures!
An absolute must for every Bangkok visitor that likes art.

“Brilliant new art in Thailand”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

MOCA is the personal collection of Boonchai Bencharongkul exhibited in a purpose built 5 story building on the outskirts of Bangkok. There is an admission fee unless you are over 60!
If you are interested in secular Thai art, this is a MUST see. The selection is deep rather than wide. He has selected at least four works from each artist represented so there is a very clear identification of the development of the artist over time. Curation is superb. Good music provides a background to your viewing. Don't be in a hurry, bring a jacket or shawl - it's highly air conditioned - and enjoy. Take a break in the coffee shop on the ground floor. Buy a book about the collection in the gift shop.
Easy to get to - take the MRT to MoChit and get a taxi - 60-70 baht - but most importantly, if you like contemporary art, take an afternoon to view this superb collection of Thai art.

“Breathtaking art at MOCA”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

This museum is a gem--wall after wall of exquisitely detailed paintings, many of which seem to draw on the tradition of Buddhist iconography you can see in the many equally exquisite wats around town. For art-lovers, it really is not to be missed.

“excellent”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

Though a little out of the way it is only about twenty or so minutes by taxi and taxis are cheap in Bangkok. It is an excellent museum with fine samples of contemporary Thai artists. I would say we enjoyed 90% of the art there. If you want to get out of the hustle bustle of Bangkok for a few hours of RnR this is the place. It is out in the vicinity of the Jatachuk market so if you are going to the market on a saturday you could spend the first part of the day at the market then wind down here afterwards
