“Great location near Khao San Rd.”
Reviewed 7 August 2013

Tara Place was a very positive experience. We came across Tara Place by accident.

The staff was very helpful and serviceminded. The room were clean and space. Last but not

The breakfast was included and is served at the nearby coffee shop. By local standard it was not worth the price. So just skip the breakfast and go for the many offers at the nearby Khao San Road instead.

Tara place is the first stop on a 6 weeks trip of Thailand and it is very good. It has good sized rooms, hot showers, complimentary water, very very helpful and friendly staff. Would recommend. Breakfast is good too!

I stayed here for 4 nights in July 2013. From the moment I walked into the hotel lobby I was greeted with a Hugh friendly smile by both the ladies working on reception. They could see I had been travelling for a while so the check in process took about three minutes. I was then shown to my room. The room size is not great but it is modern and clean with excellent wifi. Considering the price I paid for the hotel I was not expecting a huge room. Bangkok has become expensive.

The location of the hotel was perfect for me, close to the royal palace and the golden mount there was plenty to walk around and explore. If you are interested in sightseeing its perfect. I took the local buses if I wanted to go anywhere else for 8 baht brilliant service. After a day out and about in Bangkok it was nice coming back to a room that had been cleaned new linen and towels as well as toiletries.

The hotel has a few restaurants close to it. I chose a more traditional Thai restaurant turn left at the road and opposite the filling station is a really nice little cafe that served wonderful caramel frappes my weakness.

The girls at reception are happy to help on any issue and their local knowledge is very good. I flew air asia into Bangkok so it was from the old airport. I had a bit of time so decided to get the train to the airport. The two ladies gave me exact information. What bus to catch, which bus to change to and how often the train runs. Genius

I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit to bangkok

This was probably the best major city place I've stayed. The rooms are nice, but most important to me is that it be CLEAN. This place was great. The rooms are super pretty, beds a little firm (not due to a thin mattress, just firm), but overall it was awesome. The best part of this hotel though is hands down the staff. They are probably the best staff I've come across at this price point which is saying a lot as I've been in a LOT of hotels. Great English, always willing to help. Location is OK, though you need to tuk tuk pretty much everywhere, but Bangkok is so spread out you can't really pick a location that will change that reality.

Definitely recommend!

This place is the equivalent of a boutique Manhattan hotel without the NYC prices. I was very impressed. Euro-sized rooms, not huge, but very comfortable. AC gets really cold & there's a lift big enough for you AND your luggage :) It's in a great location, we walked to/from dinner in the backpackers area and felt safe; get a tuk-tuk if you're heading downtown or the mall area. They offer 1-way tuk-tuks to all main attractions at no charge. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. And if you're in the mood for a large breakfast before heading out, check out the cafe around the corner (facing the same street, just next to the spa; they serve great coffee!).

We stayed here for three days. On our early arrival we could check in directly what was great.
We had a very nice family room and a scond room, both very clean spacious and a good airco. You can take coffee in the lobby for free.
Hotel offers a great tuktuk service to a couple of tourist places and also the Phra Ar Thit pier is at a walking distance, nice to take the longtail for transportation. Just buy the ticket at the desk or on the express line, not from people on the streets.
Also a very friendly staff!

Lodgings are arguably better than a budget chain hotel, at maybe 60% the price. Super clean, hotel staff speaks good English (somewhat rare in Thailand!) and is very helpful with getting taxis, directions, etc. Only real complaint is that sound isn't buffered well so you can hear doors slam and people talking outside your room late into the night. If you get the provided breakfast, you do get a full American-style serving (among other cereal, pancake options), but the quality is nothing spectacular -- just sufficient. Two-minute walk to the expat-popular Adhere blues bar, a neat hole-in-the-wall with live music that Western rags (e.g. NYT) love. Maybe a 15-minute walk to Khaosan road, though that street has turned into a tourist trap. If you want to burn 1-2 hours of walking (worth it!), can see basically everything in the old city in an afternoon.

Room Tip: Pick a room away from the elevators so you won't hear drunk people coming in late at night while...
