We didn't stay here as we originally planned because once we arrived, the staff cancelled our bookings right when we arrived after looking for the place for an hour due to bed bug problems...

However, one of the guys was superbly helpful and quick to solve the problem. He gave us several choices, and booked us at another place, a hotel for the same price and same room which was very kind. They took us to Silom Village Inn Hotel (which you can read via tripadvisor). It was "nice," but for a hotel, very much like an old, run down motel. Overall, everything worked fine, it was comfortable and as clean as could be, the toilet was also in good condition. We were very fortunate. It also lessen our stress to know that they were looking for different alternatives since they didn't email us about the cancellation. We had a few qualms at Silom Village Inn, so I definitely don't recommend staying there if they suggest unless it's your only choice. But, since we just wanted to make it easy and relax, we didn't mind so much.

They made sure that we could return any time if we had any questions or wanted to book anything through them. We came back indeed to ask about a shared taxi to the airport and one of the girls just advised us to take any taxis from the street....which of course our "hotel" Silom Village Inn "helped" us with, and ripped us off by telling the taxi driver the wrong airport. We were so frustrated and upset that our trip ended like that with a bill of around 700,000 baht when it was supposed to be 250,000 baht. We called them, and they had no idea that one of their staff did that...right. So I suggest Mile Map not to book their guests to that friend/family hotel of theirs. We weren't welcomed at all. And if the promise from Mile Map was real by meaning to help us with taxi, tours, then do so instead of turning us away or telling us to take any taxis as if we didn't know we could already do that. We asked for shared taxi because their signs for it were right in front of their information desk.

On to the good things...

The location was great - we walked to the station every day, used it every night to get to Silom Centre / Central Mall / MBK area where the peaceful demonstrators were. The area around Mile Map and Silom Village had a lot to offer and a different side from Khao Sand Road. We really loved the location!

We would've appreciated it a lot more if they had emailed us and told us beforehand because we spent an hour looking for the place. We booked by emailing them since we didn't want to pay for it via online. Getting there shouldn't be difficult, if we were provided with better information. I don't know why the information isn't provided more thoroughly. Well, from the airport you can get to the BUS GATE (Exit 2), get on the white bus that takes you to the BTS, from the BTS buy a single journey ticket to Surasak (all easy to do), and from Surasak station (take EXIT 3), walk down the stairs, turn right, walk for about 5 minutes and turn to your left (the street name should be Than Pan Road and not just PAN ROAD as the address is indicated. To your right, the big building is the Myanmar Embassy. If you don't see that on your right when you make a left turn, you've either turned too soon or too far. Continue to walk down the road, and on your left right before that 7 Eleven, you should see Mile Map in a big alley.

I would ask firmly about the bed bug problems as when we were there, they had signs saying that they were going to spray down every bed in each room to ensure that they weren't going to have any more problems...but knowing that our room had them the day we arrived, we definitely opted out and didn't choose to come back the next day.

Anyway, great helpful staff. Wished it was Silom Village Inn they requested, we didn't get the best treatment. Lesson learned. When you want things done, just do yourself. We should've just looked elsewhere oruselves, but nevertheless deeply appreciated their help in fixing the problem.

We stayed at the Mile map hostel in a dormitory with 4 beds. The room was a little bit small but it does the job. A/C, free WIFI, a kitchen where you can cook your own food, a terrasse roof.
Only problem : No lockers in the dormitory to put your backpack and as the rooms are smalls it become a mess quickly.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I like the look of the place! For food I would only need to cross the street and I would have several options available, and it was very close to the sky train as well. A 15 minute walk away from Central Pier which was great as well.
The staff was very sweet and helpful. When I booked, I immediately received an email with instructions on how to reach the hostel, including directions written in Thai to show to the taxi driver. I thought that was very considerate and helpful of them. Also loved that they provided free filtered water, so be sure to bring your own reusable plastic bottle.
I will stay here again the next time I'm in Bangkok.

Perks: superb bathrooms, lots of comfortable lounge area in common spaces, clean, they sell postcards for 15 baht ($0.50) and for another 15 baht they'll stamp them and take them to the post office for you, provided freebies like tea and instant noodles.

Cons: very difficult to find. Googlemaps and the directions provided by the hostel on hostelbookers.com vary significantly. An important detail that is lacking is where Pan Street is on Silom Road (around Silom 13 or 14, we think). With maps and apps of Bangkok's streets and public transportation we thought it'd be straight forward, but it was pretty tough.

Two of us stayed here for 3 nights right after New Years. We had a private AC room with private bath, which was very clean and felt like our own mini apartment. The building is a modern concrete of several stories, with good WiFi. The desk staff is very friendly, and they are open 24/7, which was very convenient when we needed to check out at 4am to catch a flight. The WiFi is good. No free breakfast, but they you can get free instant noodles whenever you want. Only downside is that it was on the pricier side (at least for the private room). We booked through hostelbookers.com and had no issues.

The location is great, only 5-10 minute walk from the Surasak skytrain stop, and on a relatively quiet side street. Very close to 7-11 and family mart for water etc., right next door to the Hindu temple, and right next to the main Silom road. 10-15 minute walk down Silom road to get to the Oriental boat stop, where you can catch the river taxi up to the grand palace, etc. Right across Silom road is a market with several small restaurants. We thought this was a great balance between a real neighborhood and still accessible to the regular tourists stops via the river taxi, as well as the skytrain to get anywhere else you might want.

Got there at 5 in the morning and they offered us a bed, which was fantastic.
Free wifi all over the hostel with power points above each bed.
Staff are very friendly and will book taxis and have stamps to send letters.
Lovely little lounge on the first floor.
Bathrooms are clean. Rooms are big and clean, although we were in a room with a large window and not very good curtain so let a lot of light in a night.
Beds are comfortable and they give you towels.
They don't have big lockers for all your things, just small ones for valuables.
Close to Silom markets and train stations and bars and nightclubs; great location. We walked or took the train everywhere.
Really enjoyed it, would definitely stay again.
