“Great little place”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

Good location close to Surasak BTS station from where you can grab a motorcycle taxi to the hostel for 20 baht. Some have said it's hard to find, I had no problems with that.

I stayed only one night. The lady behind the desk on the arrival day was super nice and helpful. Hostel is clean modern with WiFi to which, for some reason, I couldn't connect. I had a private room which had nice industrial look but didn't have any windows.

There's a kitchen in the back for low budget travelers and a rooftop terrace which is now closed during night due to complaints caused by noisy travelers.

I wanted to spend 2 nights there, ended up being there for a whole week.
Staff is very nice and they speak good english. You got a little kitchen where you can even cook whole meals (we had a nice Easter breakfast there with eggs, beans, bacon...), there is free coffee and tea, laundry is very cheap, rooms are clean and cool and the bathrooms are totally acceptable.
You always meet new people if you stay in the dorm or spend your evenings in the friendly lobby or at the rooftop.
Surrounding may not be the best (there are no good bars or coffeshops around), but Skytrain is near and a taxi to banglamphoo is only 90 baht per car.
So all in all, I totally recommend this hostel!

Really great stay. Clean and tidy. Rooms are a good size with lockers! The front desk is super helpful!!! Close to a food street and some markets but not the most happening area (ie quieter than Koh San road). Would stay again for sure!!

Quite a difficult place to find as it's sign is very small and it's on a side street. Although when inside it's a nice difference from the madness on the streets. The man at reception was extremely helpful and spoke almost perfect English. We were ahead of check in time but our room was ready for us anyway. Because of the tv's not working due to satellite issues we were offered early check in and late check out which was good. The decor is sort of arty with quirky pictures, a pillar red post box and a multi flag sofa in the lobby however it's almost as if they forgot to finish off some bits. We stayed in room 1 which is literally above the check in desk, and the walls a literally plaster boards with no plaster never mind paint! It's basically you get what you pay for but because of these thin walls you can hear absolutely everything in the hostel. We would recommend earplugs!
However after everything said we would stay here again as it was clean, good location, great staff and cheap.

We didn't stay here as we originally planned because once we arrived, the staff cancelled our bookings right when we arrived after looking for the place for an hour due to bed bug problems...

However, one of the guys was superbly helpful and quick to solve the problem. He gave us several choices, and booked us at another place, a hotel for the same price and same room which was very kind. They took us to Silom Village Inn Hotel (which you can read via tripadvisor). It was "nice," but for a hotel, very much like an old, run down motel. Overall, everything worked fine, it was comfortable and as clean as could be, the toilet was also in good condition. We were very fortunate. It also lessen our stress to know that they were looking for different alternatives since they didn't email us about the cancellation. We had a few qualms at Silom Village Inn, so I definitely don't recommend staying there if they suggest unless it's your only choice. But, since we just wanted to make it easy and relax, we didn't mind so much.

They made sure that we could return any time if we had any questions or wanted to book anything through them. We came back indeed to ask about a shared taxi to the airport and one of the girls just advised us to take any taxis from the street....which of course our "hotel" Silom Village Inn "helped" us with, and ripped us off by telling the taxi driver the wrong airport. We were so frustrated and upset that our trip ended like that with a bill of around 700,000 baht when it was supposed to be 250,000 baht. We called them, and they had no idea that one of their staff did that...right. So I suggest Mile Map not to book their guests to that friend/family hotel of theirs. We weren't welcomed at all. And if the promise from Mile Map was real by meaning to help us with taxi, tours, then do so instead of turning us away or telling us to take any taxis as if we didn't know we could already do that. We asked for shared taxi because their signs for it were right in front of their information desk.

On to the good things...

The location was great - we walked to the station every day, used it every night to get to Silom Centre / Central Mall / MBK area where the peaceful demonstrators were. The area around Mile Map and Silom Village had a lot to offer and a different side from Khao Sand Road. We really loved the location!

We would've appreciated it a lot more if they had emailed us and told us beforehand because we spent an hour looking for the place. We booked by emailing them since we didn't want to pay for it via online. Getting there shouldn't be difficult, if we were provided with better information. I don't know why the information isn't provided more thoroughly. Well, from the airport you can get to the BUS GATE (Exit 2), get on the white bus that takes you to the BTS, from the BTS buy a single journey ticket to Surasak (all easy to do), and from Surasak station (take EXIT 3), walk down the stairs, turn right, walk for about 5 minutes and turn to your left (the street name should be Than Pan Road and not just PAN ROAD as the address is indicated. To your right, the big building is the Myanmar Embassy. If you don't see that on your right when you make a left turn, you've either turned too soon or too far. Continue to walk down the road, and on your left right before that 7 Eleven, you should see Mile Map in a big alley.

I would ask firmly about the bed bug problems as when we were there, they had signs saying that they were going to spray down every bed in each room to ensure that they weren't going to have any more problems...but knowing that our room had them the day we arrived, we definitely opted out and didn't choose to come back the next day.

Anyway, great helpful staff. Wished it was Silom Village Inn they requested, we didn't get the best treatment. Lesson learned. When you want things done, just do yourself. We should've just looked elsewhere oruselves, but nevertheless deeply appreciated their help in fixing the problem.
