We found this place on a walk up to the BST Krung Thon Buri form the place we were staying in, near the river in Klongh San. It's an open-air place near to the main road and at first I wasn't keen to go in thinking it'd be noisy. However, when the food arrived, everything else disappeared. Even my wife. As I did for her I might add, not wanting to risk sounding like an anachronism.
The just food takes over. It's that good.
We went 6 times in two weeks and every time the food was consistently excellent. Crab in omelette, green curry with fish balls, squid stuffed with shrimp, fried chinese kale that you could eat as a stand-alone dish amongst other wonders. The menu is extensive, which is often not a good thing - but here, every time I tried something new that I'd already had in other places in my times in Thailand and in Thai restaurants in Amsterdam I was simply amazed, every time.
Ok, so the food is 100%. That's not all that makes a restaurant great, as we all know...
The service - the manageress and the staff are very friendly, but not overly - you are treated the same as their Thai customers (who are in the majority at all times). The staff are attentive but not bothersome, the manager is very helpful and sweet and speaks some English and the menus have good and correct translations.
The place is clean and there is a smoking area away from the tables.
For 3 ample dishes, rice and drinks you probaly won't get above 500 baht. For this quality, that's a near miracle. They're open in the evenings only (as far as I know).
