Shadi Home Bangkok: 3.5/5

I stayed at Shadi Home Bangkok from 5th to 9th December 2013.

Location:
It is situated along a street (or Soi) with many massage parlours, a few restaurants, a money exchanger, a mosque and a 7-11 store right next door. It was conveniently located, in my opinion, to shopping areas such as the Pratunam Market and Platinum Shopping Mall. The Airport rail link is within walking distance and it was a fun experience riding it. In fact, one can use the airport rail link to link to the BTS and reach MBK. Total trip to MBK takes around 15-20 minutes including waiting time.

When taking the tuk-tuk or taxi, you can direct the drivers to Baiyoke or Pratunam Market if they don't recognize the address of Shadi Home Bangkok. It's honestly easy to walk from these two landmarks. Plus, you can to explore more when you walk.

Hotel room/facilities:
Your experience may vary depending on the room you are given. I travelled with my parents and 3 other friends. I shared a room with a friend and our room was clean and nice. We had no stunning view. Instead, our window opened up to the walls of the next building. However, compared to my parents' room, our room was way better because the window of my parents' room opened up to some ventilation area so there was no natural sunlight coming in. Their room seemed pretty "dark" in comparison to mine. So yeah, the experience of your stay may depend on what room you get.

There is a mini fridge and the water is complementary. No food. Don't whether there is room service cos preferred going out to eat or getting snacks from the 7-11 next door.

Food:
Breakfast is complementary if you opted for that. The restaurant hotel serves mostly Middle Eastern food, which is Halal for the Muslim travelers.

Staff:
Staff were helpful and friendly too!

Wifi:
Available and free!

All in all, considering the price we paid, it was a good stay and experience.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 402 while my parents stayed in Room 214. So, if you don't want to be stuck in a...

My friends and I took the triple sharing room and it was really spacious. Breakfast can be better, it was pretty tasteless to me. The hotel provides free wi-fi connection but my friends and I had problem accessing it from our room. It has a nice location with only a walking distance to Pratunam market and the airport link train station. There are also plenty of halal restaurants within the vicinity for muslim travelers.

Room Tip: The triple sharing room is good for traveling with friends.

Only improvement point is their buffet breakfast is always same, at least they can arrange different menus every other day. Better to book In agoda, than direct to hotel. Several massage along the streets, if taking taxi tell driver to enter soi 8 from Ramada hotel, because their street is one way only, so if u come from pratunam or ratchaprarop mrt side, the car cannot go in. I would highly recommend trying the Baan Massaage left side of hotel (if your facing the hotel) . There is also a wet market on one of the side street. Their glass bottled water costs 200bht, so just buy frim 711 beside them.

Shadi home is a 5 min walk from the Ratchaprarop airport train station, and about 15 min walk to Chitlom BTS; in midst of the lively Pratunam area in a small soi which caters to budget travelers with a lot of shops and restaurants. The rooms are clean, have quite a large bathroom, fridge, and free wifi throughout the hotel. I missed a desk to do some work. The hot breakfast caters mostly to South East Asians, not to those who prefer European Continental breakfast. Only instant coffee available.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms are brighter.

This is a simple hotel so stay here only if you just want a clean room to sleep in. No toiletries except for soap and and shampoo in a dispenser. Deluxe room I stayed in had no shower screen or demarcation so you'll get water everywhere when ytou shower. Pillows really need replacing. Walls are not soundproof so you can hear someone talking in the corridor even with your door closed. On the positive side staff are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is simple but just nice as mentioned by someone earlier. The restaurant also serves halal food for lunch and dinner and it's great as they do not serve alcohol and claim to be halal at the same time. Location is quite good as it is near food joints and also a short walk will get you to the Palladium and Pratunam Shopping Centre. If you are looking to buy things in bulk these two shopping centres will fit right in. Had a blast of a time shopping here.
