This place has just about everything, food, shopping, drinks, live music etc. Only issue is that its a bit far from the city. I actually took the BTS to one of the station and change to a motorcycle taxi to reach it. On hind side I should have spend a day there as it is located next to a big shopping centre, Secon Square and the market only open at night.

This was an educational experience and in my opinion a Must see:)
The vendors and the variety of what they sell and then having to move all the products to make way for the train is really remarkable!

Great market to get bargains and curios. We bought a large number of Thai silk items which were very cheap, and the light cotton shirts were just the job for a hot country,

Only 8 stops down on the BTS from the Intercon Hotel. It'll cost you around 40THB. You can get a BTS pass and just put a load of around 100THB. The pass will also provide about a 20Baht over draft on it.
The weekend market is one of those things you should experience while in BKK. It has everything from the smallest nic-nacs to some pricer art and furniture pieces. You can not cover the entire market in one day and would be hard pressed to in 2 days.
I picked up an entire years worth of birthday and Chrissy presents for family and friends saving $ but providing some unique memories.

We visited this market to experience how the traders pack up their stalls at the speed of lightening when they know the train is scheduled to pass by. The speed is incredible! I can understand why it's known as the umbrella market. Once the train has passed they set up their stalls again. It's entertaining to watch. Bring small change if you plan to buy anything.
