Had a great experience. Can take golf cart ride provided by the J.T. House from the BTS station to the house. I suggest you make reservations to eat before you start the tour or call ahead. Tour went fine with young boys, but tours of the home are done in a group and are geared towards adults. So depending on your children's attention span/jet lag you may prefer to just tour the grounds on your own with the kids and have the adults take turns going on the indoor tour of the house.

“Paradise”

This place is stunning. The gardens are beautiful and like nothing I have ever seen before in a private house. The home and antiques are beautiful too. The guides are friendly and informative, but the garden is simply stunning. There is a restuarant also to sit and enjoy the surroundings in also. In my opinion a must see in Bangkok.

“A lovely retreat in the city center”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The Jim Thompson house is a beautiful oasis in the heart of Bangkok. It is cool, leafy and a wonderful reminder of some of Thailand's most beautiful art forms. It doesn't take too long to see, but is a nice stop on a hot day.

“A brilliant mishmash”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

The much touted "authenticity" of the Jim Thompson House is a bit off as you listen to your tour guide explain away staircases, balconies, and indoor bathrooms that were never part of traditional Thai houses. And the art collection is equally parts "Asian" (Chinese, Burmese) as it is Thai. But all jumbled together, like the six traditional Thai houses that Thompson crammed together to make ONE traditional house, the overall effect remains a richly tropical beauty in its own right. Have been on the tour (guided tour is mandatory, but you can go back to the gardens on your own) years ago,and always wanted to return. Glad I did. It just feels good around here, and the old, oiled hardwood makes the place SMELL good too.

“Lovely restaurant and a nice oasis after a hard day sightseeing”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Brilliant restaurant, interesting house of Jim Thompson. Could have done without the 25 min wait for the guided tour which was not that interesting or informative really. Nonetheless, if you're in the area, do pop in for eats here, relatively cheap and excellent Thai cuisine.
