I love river view from my room and I see view from Asiatique is very romantic, and the hotel stay near main road it's easy for you go shopping center and restaurant near the river, and in night you can walk to Asiatique.

Room Tip: recommend river view room

This was our 2nd stay at the Tongtara in the past 6 months. The staff are very nice, the views are fantastic from the huge windows in the rooms, the beds are very comfortable and the location is great, being only a few hundred metres from Asiatique. The hotel also has a swimming pool, wi-fi and computers in the lobby for guests to use..We love the Tongtara and at less than £25 a night for a double/twin room it is great value for money. We'll be back again next time we are in Bangkok.

People who have said the hotel is nowhere near the river or within walking distance of anywhere useful must have stayed in a cupboard during their stay. The Tongtara is very near Asiatique and is only a few hundred metres from the river which you can see very clearly from the room windows. It is also only 10 minutes drive from River City where there are many many good bars and restaurants and boat trips including dinner cruises available.

Lastly, thanks again to all theTongtara staff who are always pleasant friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Best rooms are facing the river, best views from rooms on or above the 7th or 8th floors.

The Tongtara Riverview Hotel is somewhat of a misnomer being nowhere near the river nor anywhere else within useful walking distance. Having said that the views out of the river facing rooms do look out over the river and are quite interesting. The disadvantage of these rooms however is that they also face the noisy road and with only single glazing on the windows the noise can be quite bad- always ask for a room on the highest floors (14 or 15). The pool is lovely but the rooms are a bit dated and ours was very smokey smelling. You have to request a lock for the room safe which is a bit odd; the room air con is very efficient but noisily powerful and WiFi is available- free for 1 hour if you buy a drink in the lobby bar (but not in the restaurant). Food was excellent both for breakfast and dinner.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view on the upper floors

Rooms are pretty average, mattress is hard but good, bathrooms are moldy, location is in old part of Bangkok where you are close to only the night market and nothing else. Price is good. Food was average. You get what you pay for.
I would not personally book here because of the location.

Room Tip: ask for a updated room

The moment we arrived, we were stunning with the lobby decoration which was styish. We booked the Superior room , which is quite dated but clean enough. Even though the TV is not a flat screen, it has clear signal. The room has lots of spaces to put our things. Very convenient light and air con controller just next to bed.
Another pros for this hotel is thier location, which is close to Asiateaque. Just 2 mins walk. So you can go there for dinner and shopping.
So it's a quite good value for price. But if you are planing to explore other part of Bangkok, Then just 1 night here is enough ans they are quite far from BTS and Underground trian. Taxi would be the most convenient option available if you don't mind high price. [ At least cheaper that Phuket Taxi ]

Room Tip: Choose high floor. Some of them has river view but it will be in a higher category room type.

Its an ok hotel, nothing special. The room is nice as the windows are from floor to ceiling and it looks nice. The pool area is kind of boring but ok. Close to shopping centre asiatique but far from all the other famous Bangkok attractions
