“Crowded, knockoffs”
Reviewed 28 November 2013

This area is not a tourist attraction although it is packed with wall to wall tourists. . I am not a prude but the whole atmosphere is very sad and at the same time disturbing. I was told this was a good shopping area with an edge, with the clubs and dancers, but was very disappointed in the entire atmosphere. Crowded, pushing your way through packs of people, and fending off touts. My adult daughter wanted to experience this but even she wanted to leave after 15 minutes.

“Ok for shopping”

As soon as you enter the market, you will be reached by touts with placards for Ping pong shows. Beware, don't follow them, as you will find people intimidating you to get ripped off by minimum 600 - 1000 Bahts
Simple way to avoid them is to not make eye contact and politely say no thanks.

Its an awesome place for buying fakes in Bangkok
Shops will not keep first copy fakes on the showcase, but convince them you want to buy one and they will get the First Copy Louis Vuitton and Jimmy Choo from the trunks.

The prices quoted at the first go are crazy high and we even fell for that as I bought two shorts for 1100 baht after negotiating from 2200 baht , however little did i know i could fetch the shorts at a rate of around 300-400 baht, only if i would have read a fellow travelers review earlier

On and all an experience for life time :)

“Wel past its use by date!”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

Patpongs heyday was many-many years ago:
Today it is a worn out sad reflection of its former self.
The night market sells the usual array of cheap imitation products and you have to barter a good deal to get a good deal.
The few remaining Go-Go Bars are tired. The single exception to this would be the Safari Bar which offers a peaceful retreat form the chaos of outside.
The biggest problem with Patpong are the aggressive street touts who try to entice the unwary to ‘upstairs’ shows. On no account should you go to one of these shows. You will witness many sad looking women performing unusual acts with their vaginas.
You will also be presented with a bill that will amount to at least 10 times what it should be. If you question this you will be confronted by angry aggressive men who will make things very unpleasant for you.
Yep! By all means go to Patpong, have a look around and then leave.
Soi Cowboy offers a similar but much safer experience.

“Don't Bother.”
Reviewed 21 November 2013

We were checking out the night market to do a little souvenir shopping. It was easy to get to from our hotel since it was only a few train stops away. It was fun maybe for about 5 minutes. After that you realized the vendors were basically selling the same stuff from one end of the street to another. And the prices were not even good. We bought a few T-shirts for 200 bahts each (after bargaining with the vendors). Then we found the same T-shirts at the MBK center the next day for 99 bahts each. Strip clubs and Go-Go bars were all around the market. Touts kept approaching us and asking us to see sex shows.

If it is the market you are after, don’t bother. Save your money and time and go to the Chatuchak Weekend Market or MBK center or Chinatown instead. A lot more fun and stuff to buy there.

Patpong Night Market just seedy.

“Wouldn't waste time”
Reviewed 21 November 2013 via mobile

Market stalls with loads of low quality stuff being sold. Few clubs offering ping pong shows. Would not recommend anyone to visit. Was ready to leave the moment we got there.
