“Fantastic Temple”
Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

I loved visiting this temple. The view from the top is great. The climb up the steps which curl around the building is really cool. As one gets higher the temperature becomes more pleasant and cooler.
The grounds are nice and well cared for
Make sure you go to the roof section and take advantage of the view.
To get there can be troublesome as taxi drivers say they don't know it or they bluntly refuse to take you. So....the best way is to go to Chidlom Central world area and catch the canal boat to the area near the Golden Mount...ask the boat man to take you near the Golden Mount and say Wat Saket.
Its a short walk from the canal boat. The canal boat ride in itself is an experience!

“Another Must See!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

This is another must see in Bangkok, dont let the 300+ stairs scare you they are ot steep and very easy to climb. The view from the top is awesome and the kids will love to bang the gongs and the bells along the walk up! Dont forget to play the sticks game (for a small donation) and get your fortune in the lobby of the Wat and to see the shrine of the Buddha bone inside the temple! Get a nice ice coffee on the way up or down - good stuff!

“very nice temple with a good view”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

The temple is probably not one of the most visited ones in Bangkok, but in my opinion still a very nice place. You can feel the special aura of this place, when you visit it and if you are lucky, you might meet a talkative Buddhist monk to tell you some interesting aspects of Buddhism.
The Golden Mount is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Bangkok. Stairs of 318 steps lead to the 79 meters high artificial mountain, crowned by a golden chedi. From here you have a great view of Bangkok.
The construction of the temple started under Rama I around 1785 and was only finalized under King Chulalongkorn (Rama V, end of 19. century).

“Buddha Mystery”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

It is good spot to watch sunset after you climb the stairs up. It is not easy to find the gate the temple but you certainly would enjoy seeing Buddha setting under showers or water and smoke. If you pass by on your back you notice that they shut the smoke effect and Buddha sits alone there :). It is nice place to visit!

“Peaceful place in Bangkok”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

This place is fun to visit. However, it is not very long and not very interesting, if it is for the view you have over the city. There is a lot of Buddha statues and praying places. There is also many bells (like other temples in Thailand). The entrance fee is about 40 baht per person, which is cheap for Bangkok temple. I would recommend to get there only if you have some extra time in your trip, as other temples are much more impressive. If you decide to go, don’t forget that you need some clothes to cover the knees and the shoulders, like in most Buddha temples.
