Sukhumvit is a large area but I am writing about the street-side restaurants on Soi 11. Soi 11 is a fairly narrow street less than a kilometer long. There are a number of food carts lined up along the street where one can eat many different types of food cooked right in front of you. Mostly you get sea food and at a very reasonable price. Portable table and chairs are set up on the sides of the street, tables for 2 or 4 persons, food cooked & served in quick time. Other than food carts there are regular restaurants & music halls & pubs (Australian, Irish, etc) as well as other carts selling various types of fruits and nick-knacks. Its open from early evening and goes on till late into the night. Mostly foreign customers.

Weave your way through a mixed medley of international travelers as you scan the sidewalk bazaars. Barter you way stall to stall and pick up replica t-shirts and handbags, DVDs, toys, wallets, belts and local carved goods. You'll need to duck your head below the canopies and watch the jagged paving at the same time. A few good food outlets accompany this small but pleasant shopping experience.

for me the best place in bangkok to buy gifts for loved ones back home, be it watches, t-shirts, clothing, headphones, jewellrey, accessories - there is literally something for everyone over on Sukhumvit Road - and if the boys get a bit sick, there are loads of watering holes to stop off for a quick cold one (or 2)

the streetmarket, which is located on the sideways of the sukhumvit road, offers all presentable products in low price but also in in low quality. specially clothes should not buyed there. the market is overflooded from plagiates made in china. it is better to leave valuable things in the hotel, because pocket thieves are around. further the road market is no place for children, because the area is a mixture between market and redlight district. we went there only one time for maybe two hours. that was enough.
